The nominees in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series are as follows:
Jeremy Piven as Ari Gold in "Entourage"
Kevin Dillon as Johnny Drama in "Entourage"
Neil Patrick Harris as Barney Stinson in "How I Met Your Mother"
Rainn Wilson as Dwight Schrute in "The Office"
Jon Cryer as Alan Harper in "Two and a Half Men"
Jeremy Piven has been nominated twice in the past. In 2005 and 2006 Piven was nominated for his role as Ari Gold on the HBO series "Entourage" in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. In 2006 he won the Emmy. This year he is nominated again for the same role in the same category.
Kevin Dillon has never been nominated for an Emmy. This year is his first time being nominated going head to head with his "Entourage" costar Jeremy Piven. Dillon has also been nominated for a Screen Actor's Guild Award for his work in "Entourage."
Neil Patrick Harris has never been nominated for an Emmy. This is his first nomination for his role in "How I Met Your Mother." Harris has been nominated for two Golden Globes and several other entertainment awards.
Rainn Wilson has never been nominated for an Emmy. This is his first nomination for his work in "The Ofice." However, Wilson has won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for his work in "The Office" and "Six Feet Under."
Jon Cryer has been nominated once before for an Emmy. In 2006 Cryer was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his role in "Two and a Half Men." This year, he is nominated for the same show in the same category.
Except for Jeremy Piven, none of the other contenders for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series have ever won an Emmy. Which one of them will take one home? Many predictions say that Piven will win the Emmy for the second year in a row, but others say that Neil Patrick Harris will win for his great performance in "How I Met Your Mother." My guess-- Jeremy Piven will triumph again.
