Who Will Win the Super Bowl? Colts VS Saints in the Point System!

A Unique Way to Pick the Super Bowl Winner

Robin Vinci
This 2010 Super Bowl has all the makings of a classic.

The very popular and considered by many the "Greatest Quarterback of all time" Peyton Manning versus the team who has never made it to the big stage.

First off, I believe the hearts of 75-80 percent of Americans will pull for the New Orleans Saints. This city has re-grown as the team has re-grown.

For years the Saints were losers. Most teams could check a win off against them during pre-season. But, it took a hurricane to change it all. The team has slowly come around until it was at the top of its game. It looks like nothing or no one can knock the city or the team back to its low point. No longer can they be called, "the aint's".

On the other side Manning and the Colts have tasted Super Bowl victory before. Indianapolis, is a nice city, but hasn't had to undergo any major ordeals. Maybe, the lack of pressure will be in their favor.

Most fans, and people who only watch one football game a year, will love the underdog Saints. But, do they really have a chance?

Let's see who will win this game and what the score will be by using my unique point system.

Quarterback

Powerhouse Peyton Manning versus Drew Brees. Manning has to have the edge, but not by much. Brees is probably the second best quarterback in the league right now. His numbers are actually better than Manning this year, but Manning has more experience. On a scale and point system from 1-10, I still give Manning a 10 and Brees a 9.

Colts 10, Saints 9 (final score equals final game score)

Running Back

Hmmm, Joseph Addai for the Colts and Reggie Bush for New Orleans. I give Bush the slight edge. He is playing much better than Addai right now. But, neither is game controlling. Of course the Saints also have Pierre Thomas which has some value. So, I give Bush/Thomas 6 points while Addai gets 3.

Saints 15, Colts 13 (do you see how this point system thing works?)

Wide Receivers

I think Reggie Wayne is easily better than of the any Saints receivers. The problem here is that the Saints have three good receivers Marques Colston, Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem. They are better than Pierre Garcon and Austin Collie of the Colts. Three good ones are always better than one. So, the total points for Indy's receivers is 6 (5 to Wayne alone), while the Saints receivers get 8 points.

Saints 23, Colts 19

Defense

The Colts defense is underrated. The Saints defense is up and down. I'm never sure what to expect from them. I give the Colts a slight edge. Therefore, the Colts "D" get 7 points and the Saints 5 points.

Saints 28, Colts 26

Coaches

Both Jum Caldwell and Sean are young. I don't see either team having a huge advantage here. Since, it's a draw, I am giving out no points.

Saints 28, Colts, 26

Special Teams

It always comes down to special teams. I must admit, I like the Saints much better here. Kickers and punters and coverage are important. Colts may have experience in kicking, but the coverage and receivers edge goes to the Saints I am giving the Saints a 6-5 edge.

And there you have it. I would have predicted the Colts, but lets see how the system works.

Can you believe it?

Super Bowl XLIV Final Score:New Orleans Saints 34, Indianapolis Colts 31(at least that's what my point system tells me)
