Who won American Idol tonight was revealed two hours into the season finale. The contestant who won American Idol tonight in the season finale was none other than Lee DeWyze. It will be interesting to hear how close the final vote was for the season, but it was Lee DeWyze that beat out Crystal Bowersox to become the 2010 American Idol. The results seemed like really a secondary thing to the 2010 American Idol finale as well, with so many guest musical stars, the American Idol Top 12 performing, and so many extra good-bye messages to Simon Cowell. This wasn't just the final episode of American Idol for DeWyze and Bowersox, but for Cowell as a judge as well.

This was a season that seemed to have Lee DeWyze and Crystal Bowersox as the two favorites for quite some time. There were early predictions that they would be the final two contestants standing, and that left very little surprise for the top three week as Casey James was eliminated to present a one-on-one showdown between DeWyze and Bowersox.
