Who Won Celebrity Apprentice 2010? Trump Hires Bret Michaels

Did Bret Michaels Deserve to Win Celebrity Apprentice?

If you missed the final episode of Celebrity Apprentice, you are undoubtedly wondering, "Who won?" Donald Trump chose Bret Michaels over Holly Robinson Peete to be his Celebrity Apprentice 2010.

The warm and fuzzy tone of this year's Celebrity Apprentice finale was nothing like last year's finale. Last year Joan Rivers and Annie Duke practically duked it out on live television. This year's finale was filled with hugs and tears of joy.

Not only did we all want to know who Donald Trump would select to be the winner of Celebrity Apprentice, but more important, would Bret Michaels be well enough to attend the finale?

I'm sure I wasn't the only one who was impatiently waiting for Bret Michaels to walk on stage.

All through the taped segments I looked for signs that Bret had been in poor health. But he showed no signs of slowing down. He seemed to be very energetic and creative.

I couldn't help wondering if the stress of the Snapple project had contributed to Bret Michaels health problems.

Bret Michaels, age 47, suffered a brain hemorrhage on April 22, 2010. He seemed to be on the road to recovery. But then on May 20, he experienced another set back. Michaels had a stroke and was diagnosed with a hole in his heart.

Surely this man, who had been through an emergency appendectomy, a brain hemorrhage and a stroke would be unable to attend the live Celebrity Apprentice finale?

Surprise! Bret Michaels not only showed up, but he looked great, had a positive attitude and even had a sense of humor.

Bret Michaels admitted to Donald Trump that his doctors didn't want him to travel. But Bret was determined to win money for his charity, the American Diabetes Association.

Did Bret Michaels deserve to win?

In past Celebrity Apprentice seasons, Trump put a lot of emphasis on who brought in the most money. This year's money maker was Holly Robinson Peete, who raised more than $350,000 for her foundation, HollyRod. Bret only earned $150,000 for his charity.

Ivanka Trump questioned whether or not Bret should have spent so much time making two commercials instead of focusing on one.

Bret's teammate, Summer Sanders, hesitated when Trump asked her if Bret was a good project manager. Perhaps she was remembering how Bret had lost his script and how she had to keep reminding Bret of important scheduled events.

While negotiating the ingredients for the Snapple drink, Bret Michaels easily caved in which gave Holly the coveted passion fruit.

When Bret first walked on stage to give his presentation, he seemed uncomfortable and the crowd didn't seem to appreciate his awkward jokes. Where as Holly walked on stage like she owned the place.

When talking about the Snapple flavors, Donald Trump kept bringing up the fact that a diet drink would never taste as good as a regular drink. So obviously he preferred Holly's Compassionberry tea over Bret Michaels Trop-A-Rocka diet flavor.

So why did Donald Trump pick Bret Michaels as the winner?

Overall I think it came down to emotions. Like former Illinois Governor, Rod Blagojevich, told Trump, it was a head - vs- heart thing.

Reigning Celebrity Apprentice, Joan Rivers, summed up her feelings by saying Holly deserved to win based on a business decision. But Bret deserved to win based on all that he's gone through in his personal life.

Who among us would even be able to get out of bed, let alone fly to New York for a live television show after going through what Bret Michaels had been through?

Obviously Trump was torn between his heart and head also. With only minutes left in the grand finale, Trump turned to Bret and said, "You're hired."

While I liked Bret and kinda pulled for him it was clear Holly won. This is corporate America and race challenged Donald Trump, when we meet the standard, change the rules. You won Holly with class. Also, did not like the way Bret redyuced this classy woman to baby making machine as a friend noted. She was classy and generous (al la Osborne and her charity).

Enjoyed this! I used to watch Apprentice, but haven't for a few years. Good to hear Bret attended and looked good, and I enjoyed your insights into him looking healthy earlier as well - I would have been looking for clues, too!
