If you knew you could do something to help in this massive endeavor, would you want to do it. Well, many would probably have to think about. Many would say, "It would depend on what was required of me."
One of the best ways a person can help in the medical research process is by donating their body upon their death to a Medical Research Facility.
When a person dies, the expense is enormous. Thousands of dollars are spent to place a body into the ground to decay and fade away. It returns into the earth. Before it is destroyed and left to decay, why shouldn't it be used to benefit mankind? Why not allow medical research to use it for the benefit of health care in the future?
There is no greater gift a person can give then to give the gift of life to those who would die without it. Whole body donations are the greatest of all gifts one can give to future generations.
Some facts About Whole Body Donation
Whole body donation is sometimes referred to as Anatomical Donation which is the time of death gift of organs and tissues for medical research and education. Anatomical donation is almost always an option, even when transplantation is not.
Bodies are used for medical research, training of future medical doctors, development of new procedures, techniques, medications, and any endeavor which the facility is currently involved in which will benefit and aide in the advancement of medical science. The way the bodies are used is determined by the needs and research goals of the different facilities which receive the body donations.
These bodies can help doctors and researchers learn about different diseases, illnesses, and conditions they may not be able to learn otherwise.
Transportation of the body and cremation is paid for by the facility. (Each facility has different polices so check with them before deciding where to donate.)
Donors can choose the facility they want to donate to before they die.
The process of donating a body to medical research is simple. The forms are not long and confusing.
Donors have the knowledge of knowing they will be a part of something special which could save many lives.
The knowledge gained could be something which could impact future generations for years to come.
Different medical research facilities have different procedures, but none seem to be very complex and they are very good about explaining all information pertaining to the whole body donation.
It does not cost the family to donate the body. The only cost incurred by the family is memorial services and sometimes burial. Burial will depend on the facility.
Donors can take care of the particulars of whole body donation while still living to save the family the painful task of making this decision during their grief.
Donor cards are given to donor to allow medical staff to know they are donors. This saves a great deal of confusion and hassle should the donor's family not be present at the time of death.
Whole Body Donation is Very Special Gift
There is no greater legacy one can pass on then that of saving the lives of those who suffer through medical research. Donors will know that they will not die in vein. Saving the lives of others is not just a gift, but it the giving life back to someone who might not have had it otherwise. It is a powerful and great gift.
Whole Body Donation is worth more then any amount of money one could ever donate. This is something which is more valuable then gold. Donors are giving something which is offering life directly through the knowledge gained in research. Money and gold will disappear before the value of the knowledge gained through medical research from whole body donation will. What price would you put on research which could save many peoples lives?
The advancement of Medical Science is no small endeavor. Whole body donors are a major part of this endeavor. It is gift which could last a life time. There is not great gift one can give then the gift of life, and no greater joy then knowing you have taken part in something which could save many peoples lives.
