I visited Whole Foods for the first time a couple of years ago in Sandy Springs, Georgia. The first thing I noticed about Whole Foods was their fresh produce. I am a fruit lover and could literally live off of fruit if I didn't also love meat equally as much. The cherries and strawberries were so lush and fresh that my family devoured them in less than a couple of days. There are times you will have a hit or miss in the produce department at most food markets, but I've never had a bad piece of fruit at Whole Foods in the past two years. The other thing that I love about Whole Foods is their prepared food which includes a salad bar with your choice of greens or fruits as well as prepared meals that include chicken, steak, burritos or tofu.
The salad bars are packed with all kinds of foods that will tempt your taste buds as well as satisfy your stomach. I recently visited the Sandy Springs location and found out that they even have healthy skin care products and recycled clothing lines. Whole Foods is a feast for the eyes! You'll also find lots of food samples in the store that will give you a first hand experience of how fresh their foods are. I recently tried a spinach and tomato dish that was simply mixed with mozzarella and topped off with balsamic vinegar and it was perfection! I will tell you that Whole Foods is not the most cost effective place, but you do get what you pay for as they say.
The price point for lunch is around $2.99 for a slice of pizza or $10.00 for a custom salad. However, Whole Foods will have coupons and specials, so visit them on-line to find out when and where at http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/. For instance they are selling a local bottle of wine for $2.97. That's right, $2.97! So, that certainly counts as a special!
Bottom-line: Excellent Natural and Organic Foods, Skin products and Vitamin supplements in a neighborhood PACKED with shopping, theater and fun.
