Whole Foods Market is one of the leading retailers in North America to carry organic products for the average consumer. They are aware of the need for food products that are organically grown and cater to consumers who look to follow this way of living.

Whole Foods organics must meet a certain criteria before they can be labeled as such. There is absolutely no use of sewage sludge, pesticides, human waste, fungicides, herbicides along with any crops or seeds that are genetically engineered in regards to agriculture. Animals must be treated with the utmost care and fed with feed that is grown organically. No antibiotics along with growth hormones are used at any time on an animal.

Whole Foods offer an array of organic products that consumers can choose from. They include cereals, fruits, vegetables, pastas, cookies, dairy, sauce, poultry, meat and more.

Seventeen years ago, the Organic Foods Production Act went into effect and this allowed the United States Department of Agriculture to develop standards for the average consumer. Eventually it became what is known as the Organic Rule. This is currently set for all organic products in the United States.

When entering a Whole Foods Market, customers will notice labeling on organic products and can choose exactly what they are looking for. All of these labels are certified by an agency that the United States Department of Agriculture has approved. Labels that are listed "100% Organic" are organic products that are organically produced not taking into account salt along with water. If the label has the term "Organic", buyers must know that they are purchasing a product that contains organic ingredients that are a minimum of 95%. The other 5% are nonagricultural substances that are allowed by the United States of Agriculture's National List. If a buyer sees a label that states "Made with Organic Ingredients", they can be rest assured that this product will have a minimum of 70% in regards to organic ingredients. The other 30% could be nonagricultural substances that are allowed by the United States of Agriculture's National List or any agricultural ingredients that are grown conventionally.

Whole Foods Market is devoted to bringing consumers the very best they have to offer and organics products is just that. They are so committed that they have been bestowed the honor of being the first national certified organic grocer. By doing this, Whole Foods shows their absolute dedication to their consumers and the organic products they carry.
