The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars in American History. Many know it claimed more lives than the Revolutionary War, WWI, WWII, the war against Switzerland, the war of 1812 and the Vietnam War combined. Most think that the war was caused purely by a dispute between southern and northern states regarding Slavery, but it was really because vampires wanted to take over all of mankind. Abraham Lincoln never told a soul about this reality, but let everybody live in the like that it was just about black slavery.
The only other person that even knew about Abraham Lincoln's true reasoning was Edgar Allen Poe. I am sure you are asking how Poe can know about this since he passed away in 1849 and the Civil War didn't start until 1861, nearly a dozen years after his passing. Want to take a guess? Poe never died...well...not entirely. He became a vampire when many thought he died.
Though Lincoln despised vampires, Poe was the only one that could help Abraham put together battle plans to win the way in Abraham's favor. Although Abraham never knew if Edgar considered Abe as his friend or not, so he always acted as if it were so; Edgar was never fond of Abe, even before becoming a vampire. It also did not help that Mary Todd Lincoln was mentally ill and the two had been plotting to assassinate Abe for years. How they managed to do this without Abe knowing is still a mystery.
Night after night, after Poe became a vampire, he would sneak into the white house and sneak into Abe's room only for Abe to wake and Poe leaving the room in a blink of an eye. This went on for months. Until they came up with the plan to hire someone to assassinate him while at the theatre. While Abe and his wife were at the theatre, Poe managed to lure his body guard away from his post, and had Booth shoot the president.
Of course Lincoln had a dream, 3 nights before he was killed, foretelling his fate.
This is how it was told:
About ten days ago, I retired very late. I had been up waiting for important dispatches from the front. I could not have been long in bed when I fell into a slumber, for I was weary. I soon began to dream. There seemed to be a death-like stillness about me. Then I heard subdued sobs, as if a number of people were weeping. I thought I left my bed and wandered downstairs. There the silence was broken by the same pitiful sobbing, but the mourners were invisible. I went from room to room; no living person was in sight, but the same mournful sounds of distress met me as I passed along. I saw light in all the rooms; every object was familiar to me; but where were all the people who were grieving as if their hearts would break? I was puzzled and alarmed. What could be the meaning of all this? Determined to find the cause of a state of things so mysterious and so shocking, I kept on until I arrived at the East Room, which I entered. There I met with a sickening surprise. Before me was a catafalque, on which rested a corpse wrapped in funeral vestments. Around it were stationed soldiers who were acting as guards; and there was a throng of people, gazing mournfully upon the corpse, whose face was covered, others weeping pitifully. 'Who is dead in the White House?' I demanded of one of the soldiers, 'The President,' was his answer; 'he was killed by an assassin.' Then came a loud burst of grief from the crowd, which woke me from my dream. I slept no more that night; and although it was only a dream, I have been strangely annoyed by it ever since.
