Why the AFC is Much Better Than The NFC

In professional football, the AFC is head and shoulders above the NFC. It's beginning to look like the AFC will easily win yet another Super Bowl. As a matter of fact the NFC really only has two real chances to win the Super Bowl this year. Those two chances would be the Dallas Cowboys and the Green Bay Packers. Based on some of their matchups this year, it looks like their chances are slim to none.

The AFC is dominated by two great teams. The New England Patriots and The Indianapolis Colts. Both of these teams are head and shoulders above the rest of the NFL. The Patriots clearly are the best team in football. Currently at 10-0 they have a legitimate chance of going undefeated, 16-0. They have only two remaining games against teams with winning records, against the Giants and against the Steelers. Based on the way they have dominated other teams so far this year they have a super chance of winning all six remaining games. They have the games best quarterback in Tom Brady and best receiver in Randy Moss. They have plenty of great players to support these two, including a great defense. They have an excellent head coach. But above all this they appear to have a chip on their shoulder. Ever since the penalty they received for stealing plays, they have seemed unstoppable.

The Indianapolis Colts are the defending champions. They have only lost two games so far this year, despite having injuries to many key players including Marvin Harrison and Dwight Clark. Despite this they are still in position to win their division and get a buy in the playoffs. They have a super quarterback in Peyton Manning. He is a guy who can put the ball exactly where it needs to be. Joseph Addai very well may be the most underrated running back in all of football. Even with their season ending injury to Dwight Freeny, this team will be right their at the end as long as their other players get healthy.

The AFC is full of other teams that are very capable of making a run in the playoffs. Both the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars are capable of making a run in the playoffs. They both have solid running games and decent offenses. The Titans have maybe the best defense in football when defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth is healthy. Don't forget about the Denver Broncos. They are really playing well right now and if their second year quarterback, Jay Cutler continues to play as well as he is, they will put up lots of points against almost anyone. The San Diego Chargers are tied currently for the division lead with the Broncos. They have the best running back in football in Ladainian Tomlinson. If they can get their act together they will be tough to stop. I haven't even mentioned other good teams like the Steelers, the Browns and the Chiefs.

The NFC's only chance to complete in the Super Bowl comes down to the Cowboys and the Packers. Both teams are capable but early losses like Dallas's loss to New England makes you wonder if there is really much hope for them.
