Why I Am Addicted to Big Brother 9

Landra Lynn Jacobs
Until recently, I never really even watched much television, let alone a reality show. My TiVo got more use on the Discovery and History channels than anything else, and usually I despise reality television.

Not this season! I am absolutely addicted to Big Brother 9. Here are five reasons why I watch, and why you should too.

Five - Couples Are Just More Fun

CBS definitely decided right when they chose to pair "soul mates" together for this season of Big Brother. Not only are the couples completely alike, they are almost too much alike. This leads to a lot of drama and discussion, and even a few fights. (C'mon... admit it. You like the dirt, too. And if you don't, why are you watching reality television?) The couples idea has turned out to be a very fun look at this game.

Four - The Live Feed Drama

I caved. I even got the live feed from CBS. Reason? This is one chaotic group of people and there is no way CBS can cram all the juicy stuff into an hour. From Natalie's X-rated strip tease to Amanda's near death experience, it has all been captured. (Makes hours of writing go a lot faster with juicy drama going on in the background!) I could go on and on about the stuff that has happened in the house that even the best of writers could not make up for the show.

Three - Alex the Hottie

Okay, okay. I could not pass up any Big Brother 9 countdown without mentioning the hottest male in the bunch... Alex. (If my fiancé is reading this, please skip to the next paragraph. Warning: Major girlie gush fest ahead.) Not only is he adorable, he is sweet and charming and funny. His handling of over-dramatic Amanda has been superb, and I feel he is just the most likeable guy on the show. Case in point? At one time on the live feeds he goes outside to bring in dry towels, as it has started to rain. Alex can't help but remove his shirt and run around like a six year old, playing basketball and having fun, splashing in puddles.

Two - Can a Real Life Couple Hold On?

As many know, house guests Ryan and Jen were a real life couple. This news ended up burning them in the end, as once the word got out Jen was evicted. However, rumors have surfaced that Jen and her partner, Parker, have been left in sequester after their eviction. Could it be that CBS is holding out to reintroduce Jen into the game? While this is only speculation, it brings an interesting point onto what twists and turns CBS has coming for the rest of the season.

One - Life in a Box

Take a bunch of strangers and stick them in one house. What will happen? Big Brother is truly the classic "Real World" meets "Survivor". Nobody has access to the outside world, and nobody can leave. The contestants on Big Brother are literally marooned with a bunch of people they hate or barely dislike, and are forced to compromise and compete with each other. Sort of like life sometimes...
