Some people seem to look at abortion as a matter of "a woman's right to choose." I'm all for women having the right to choose. However, if the choice is whether or not to kill a living being, a baby, I don't think the choice belongs to the woman. It has nothing to do with women's rights. It is simply a matter of whether or not to kill a baby. It seems quite simple and clear to me. I have to assume that the distinction comes at where life begins. Many pro-choice advocates will say that life begins at birth, while the pro-life advocates will say that life begins at conception. Could that really be what is allowing this tragedy to occur every single day?
If a baby is growing inside of a mother's womb, is it alive? Maybe, this just seems obvious to me, but let's look at it another way. If a baby is nothing more than a temporary body part, then how can it go on living when it leaves the woman's body? If someone's appendix is removed, it can't go on living and growing as an independent appendix. Maybe, this isn't the best example. A child, even at the earliest stages in the womb, is human. If this cannot be agreed on, then nothing can be said for anyone at all. A fetus is human, just as much as a toddler, or an adult. A fetus is human. So, ask yourself this question? Would you ever kill a human? If the answer is no, then you can't be pro-abortion. Abortion is killing a human. Killing a human is murder. Would you ever murder someone? Would you ever murder someone that you had never met? Would you ever murder a member of your immediate family? I have to assume that the answer for most of you is a resounding, "No, of course not!"
I consider myself a religious person, but I've tried my best to not mention religion in this. If you are pro-choice, I can assume that you are not all that religious, so what would be the point of arguing God's word to someone who doesn't believe that God exists? However, I do not think that anyone can say religion doesn't teach good values. Do not murder, do not lie, do not steal. No one will say that these aren't important rules which everyone should follow. So, if religion teaches good values, then it must be pretty clear that abortion is not a good decision.
So, you don't want to raise a child. Adoption is always an option for you. If you are not ready for a child, then why not let an unfortunate couple who cannot have children of their own, have him/her. If you want to do something courageous, if you really want to be a good person, then give birth to the child and give it to a couple that wants so desperately to have a child. Adoption agencies are constantly working to find families for children that their parents did not want.
Always know that just because you don't want a child, does not mean that the child is unwanted.
