Why Am I Experiencing Migraine?

Migraine, is a chronic, debilitating condition that is characterized by a sharp throbbing pain on one side of the head, nausea, vomiting, visual disturbances (Flashing lights and blind spots) and sensitivity to light and noise.

Migraine can attack you from few hours, days up to several times each month.

Migraine is derived from hemicrania- half skull. Research shown that there are 18 percent of women and only six percent of men are suffered from migraine. Migraine generally more likely to afflict people between the ages of 25 to 55 years old. And it is less likely to attack older people. And migraine is develops commonly in immediate blood relatives such as one's parents and siblings.

Generally there are two types of migraine, migraine with aura and migraine without aura.

Migraine with aura is developing where these sensory signals include imaginary lights, visual disturbances or numbness on one side of the body. Normally, this type of migraine can last for up to half an hour before the onset of the headache. This type of migraine also involves blurred vision, flashing lights and a zig-zag visual disturbance moving across the person vision. So, people with aura migraine will not have a proper vision as the person might not be able to see thing properly. People diagnose with aura migraine will experiencing numbness affecting the face, weakness in the limbs and speech disturbances where some will finding difficulty in finding their words. This occurred, because people with aura migraine are attributed to an electrical disturbance on the surface of the brain.

Whereas, migraine without aura is accompanied by severe headache that can be disabling and made worse by exercise. This type of migraine will cause headache felt on one side the head. It is either front or back. And the person also feels nauseous and some even vomit.

What cause migraine? There are so many causes that will triggers migraine. When migraine develops, blood vessels in the head shrink swell thus resulting in pain.

Causes that trigger migraine can be anything from bright lights, to loud noises, weather changes and fatigue. Migraine can be triggered by food such as hot dogs, alcohol, coffee, chocolate or artificial sweeteners. Stress is the main common trigger for migraines. So, you might need to reduce your exposure to all these cause if you are experiencing terrible migraine.

But until today the reason why migraine develops is still uncertain and unknown. There may be genetic factor and it is not uncommon for more than one suffers in the family.
