Why to Attend College

Anthony Ogg
There are many reasons why a student may want to consider going to college after graduating high school. Attending college in today's society is almost a must to have a successful life. Most all jobs to day require at least an associate's degree to be considered for hire. Almost anyone is eligible to receive financial aid of some sort, thanks to the Pell Grant, and Hope Scholarship. All teenagers who are graduating high school should consider going to college to get a better education so they can get a good job and earn more money than a high school graduate, and with all of the great financial aid programs, and student loans available today, money should not be an issue.

After graduating high school, students need to seek a higher education. Having a higher education has many advantages, such as getting a good paying job and knowing a specific skill that can help a person through there entire lives. Higher education helps a person to have good self-esteem and also to have a better outlook on life. Likewise a person with a good education will generally be more respected in their community than someone who works at the local fast food restaurant flipping hamburgers. It is almost essential to attend college and get a good education. Knowledge is the one thing that no man or woman can take from you.

With today's skyrocketing gas prices, soaring utility bills, and wild grocery bills having a job that pays good is almost a must to survive. Minimum wage is not great, but the price on almost everything has doubled with today's economy. It is almost essential to have a good paying job in today's economy. The only way a person can work for minimum wage today is to work at least two jobs, then that person does not have time to do anything else but maybe get a few hours sleep. Do you know anybody who wants to make minimum wage for the rest of there lives? Go to college so that you don't have to worry how you are going to pay your bills!

With today's great financial aid programs, there is no reason why a student should have to worry about college tuition, thanks to the Hope Scholarship. Any Georgia citizen who has a desire to attend college in the state of Georgia who has at least a 3.0 grade point average is eligible for the Hope Scholarship. Money for tuition should not be a concern to students living in Georgia. For students not living in Georgia, There are other great grants for them also, like the Pell Grant. With the new stimulus plan, it is easier than ever to get a grant or loan with low interest!

Students having children to take care of could be one problem for attending college, but with great day care programs that should not be a very big concern. Some students choose to work and attend college at the same time and with the evening classes this has became a great success for some students. There is a way around most of the excuses teenagers have for not attending college if he or she would just look for that solution.

As simple as it is to enroll into college after high school today, I see no reason for anyone not to want to attend college. Attending college can be a great experience for young adults and is also very fun at times. College is times for teenagers to explore there options and receive a good education, so they can get a good paying job to aid in having a successful life. I would personally recommend anyone who is just graduating high school to at least give the college life a try. College knowledge is something that will stay in a persons mind for the rest of his or her life.
