Well to answer part of that question I did some accreditation research. I found that there are several accreditations available a school could offer. The Distant Education and Training Council ( DETC ) has a list of accredited institutions that they accredit and is recognized by the Department of Education. Any institution on their list has a good chance of offering a good quality education.
You can also go to http://chea.org and search for the school you are interested in. If you can't find the school you are interested in then you may be taking a risk if you decide to enroll at that school. However just because your school isn't listed doesn't mean it's not a good school .If still interested in the school that's not listed you should do some more research on it's accreditation.
Why attend an online school ? Online schooling can be more convenient for a mother with kids or someone with a full time job. Most online school's attendance policies are set up so you only have to attend 4 days a week. You can receive your books online as eBooks, downloadable, or order them through the mail. You can manage your grades, finances, and submit test instantly. Some online schools offer the option of doing your whole course completely by mail if that is what you prefer.
The cost of online education varies depending on the program of interest and the actual school. Some online schools offer an option where you can pay so much down and finish the balance off with low monthly payments. The larger schools like game design and graphic design schools may have higher cost. If that is the case then you should check and see if you can receive financial aid.
Attending online school can be beneficial but I have seen rip off reports stating otherwise. I think this just comes down to lack of research on the university or school that causes some students to find their self in bad situations.. It basically comes down to what your schedule can fit rather it be a traditional campus or online education and what kind of accreditation the school offers. Make sure the Department of Education recognizes the school's accreditation. Evaluate if this is the right option for you and do your research to determine if Online education is right for you.
