Why Do Augmented Breasts Look so Unrealistic?

My Thoughts and Opinion on Why the Results of Breast Augmentation Surgery Are so Unrealistic and "fake" Looking

Kylyssa Shay
The vast majority of augmented breasts (the results of a 'boob job') look decidedly unrealistic.

Unless a woman is wearing a push-up bra or she is laying flat on her back, there should be no upward mounding of her breasts. Generally, there's a tiny bit of asymmetry to natural breasts - just like feet no natural breasts are perfect mirrors of their counterparts. Natural breasts don't look like bubbles stuck high on a woman's chest.

Breasts should slope gracefully, not stick straight out. Then why don't cosmetic surgeons sculpt them that way?

I've finally developed a theory as to why plastic surgeons create breasts shaped so unnaturally when performing breast augmentation surgery. I don't think it's a lack of skill or technology, I think it's because they are shooting for a different shape - the shape of bra-clad breasts!

It's become so ingrained in our society that breasts should look like what Barbie dolls sport that some people react negatively to natural breasts or to unclad breasts. Women have been thrown in jail for "contempt of court" for not wearing brassieres. Girls in school have been required to wear bras once they fail the pencil test* if not before.

We women buy into this idea - hook, line, and underwire. We won't go out in public without a bra for fear of someone judging us for our "sagging" breasts. We come up with all sorts of rationalizations for wearing them when we are not exercising most of which don't really hold water - well, aside from the aqua bra. Very few bras are actually worn for comfort. I happen to wear a DD cup and I have to admit, I'm more physically comfortable without a bra on. I mean, really, if bras were for our comfort why do most of us sigh in relief when we take them off to sleep?

Some men aren't really exposed to what real, unclad breasts look like until they find themselves in bed with a naked woman. For some of them it's a surprise. Some men find natural breasts unappealing, mostly because their society has trained them to. Others, once they discover the wonderful world of natural breasts, scour the Internet looking for the real thing.

Am I going to burn my bras? Will I stop wearing them? No and no. These thoughts are my (more or less) logical conclusions, my emotions are still conditioned to accept society's ruling.

*The pencil test was to determine if it was indecent for a girl to go without a bra. The examiner would place a pencil under the girl's breast and if it stayed, the girl was required ever after to wear a bra in school.

Well, I am be smaller busted, 34-C, but when I get home at night I, too, can't wait to get comfortable--off with the shoes and the bra. (^;^) My husband is very opposed to breast augmentation and refers to augmented breasts as "Tupperware tits."

This article was part of my inspiration for my article "Love your Sagging Breasts", and I linked to this article at the end. :)

Uh, because they are! Also, I hate having breasts at all. I didn't have any breasts until I was nearly 17 and then boom...there they were!
I am currently a C cup but I may have surgery so I can be an A or B cup...I just hate the damned things and I think they get in the way when I want to do anything. It's like carrying something around with you all the time, extra package. I do feel blessed; however, that the ones I do have do not have cancer.

Thanks for the comments! BunnyKissd - It's great to hear it from a bigger busted woman because the usual response I get in conversation about breasts is that bigger busted women always experience pain or discomfort if they don't wear a bra. Maybe one day we'll all be brave enough to be just who we are without feeling the need to kowtow to arbitrary rules.

In Japan the norm is for augmented breasts to look and feel more natural than the US balloon style boobs.

I wear bigger than a DD and if I am not in public or expecting company you can be sure I am NOT wearing one of those torture devices! Thanks for this article and I hope it's just one tiny nudge in the right direction for society...
