Baking Soda or Sodium Bicarbonate, its chemical name, has been in use for years, generations after generations, working hard to show its wonderful results. But for some reason we forgot about it and gave more importance to the complicated new chemical names that appeared on the market - even though a lot of the new products always had some Sodium Bicarbonate in their ingredients list.
Left behind, Baking Soda struggled to survive appearing on cooking recipes that would require mere teaspoons of its powder. However, for a few trustful followers of the old and wise traditional secrets, baking soda was never replaced by any container of expensive cleaning product.
Today, with the advent of "Organic", "Natural" and "Chemical Free", consumers are turning their attention once again to the basics in life. Whole foods, fresh products and for household chores... why not the basic Baking Soda?
The companies, tuned with the new wave, are happy to proclaim that their products now have the once again famous "Sodium Bicarbonate", even charging more for products with this "new" ingredient on board.
For the smart consumer, there are no tricks. A basic and cheap box of the white powder will take care of most needs, without having to spend extra money. For cleaning, cooking, improving health, and a thousand of other uses, I hope Baking Soda is back to stay. Why don't you also give it a chance?
