Why is Barak Obama so Popular?

Barak Obama Facts, Without the False Allegations

Cynthia Lanctot
Okay, we've all read the email. You know, the one claiming Obama was sworn into the senate on the Koran, he wouldn't recite the pledge of allegiance, and he was raised radical Muslim. We've read it. By now, you know all key issues of that rumor were addressed and set to rights. Yay.

Senator Barak Obama has received an astronomical amount of public support in his campaign for Presidency. Much more than many originally thought he would get. For that, I feel his campaign team should feel proud of themselves. They've done a good job.

The question I have is why he has so much support. Don't get me wrong, I'm not here to bash this man who so obviously is filled with youthful passion for change and reform. My question is simply, why does he have so many supporters?

I'm 26 years old. In my age group I am among the very few who have not been swayed by the man's powerful pension for public speaking. Words have no meaning to me. Go back in history to every president ever elected. How many were able to keep their campaign promises? Our country is not run by just one person, it is run by a president, a senate, and a house of representatives and they all have to agree to make new laws and changes before they can take place.

I'm middle class. You'd think this man would have stolen my heart with his promises to ease the sufferings of the middle class. I like the tax breaks he proposes to give us, but we're trillions of dollars in debt. Where's the money going to come from? And anyone who's had to prepare taxes before knows it is impossible to reform income tax laws enough to enable Americans to process a tax reform in 5 minutes. Plus, millions of accountants and CPAs will lose their jobs. These people depend on tax season to pay their bills. I happily pay my accountant every year to take this burden away from me. Kudos for the thought, but it's an empty promise.

How many people have lost jobs recently to shops that have moved overseas? My husband's electronic support company recently downsized its American-based shops in favor of opening on in India and one in Mexico. Fifty or more employees lost their jobs. How is sending more businesses to other countries going to help our already high unemployment rate?

My favorite, of course, is the National Health Insurance Exchange. Those of you who support this idea should visit the On the Fence Films website. On the Fence covers many sad stories from countries who have national health, including a story of a British man who couldn't see because British National Health hadn't gotten around to removing his cataracts for three years, a man in Canada who waited 8 years for heart surgery, Canadians who fled to America for treatment instead of risking dying on a waiting list, and even tales of people who died on that waiting list. The worst was the story of a young girl from Canada whose heart surgery was cancelled. National Health care is never the answer. It's a horrible promise to make.

I personally hate Americans who vote on the promises made by candidates during their campaign. Not that I'm trying to sway you towards the vote for Hillary because she also has her flaws, but I must admit that she hit some key issues on the head in New Hampshire and anyone watching the debate knows that's the real reason she won that primary. Barak Obama was sworn into Senate 2 years ago. In those two years he hasn't done anything to support his claims to changing America. He's a beautiful public speaker, but that's all he is. He claims to want to wipe out lobbyist in the white house, but the leader of his campaign team is, in fact, a lobbyist for pharmaceutical companies!

Public speaking is not the skill we need in the White House. Speeches are just words. I personally want someone in office who is not afraid to take charge and be assertive. I don't want a friend in office I want a person who knows what to do and how to do it. I want someone in office who knows more about America than what is learned in a foreign private school and two years in Senate, and you should too, America. Those of you swayed by pretty words should consider that one of the greatest public speakers of the 20th century was, in fact, Adolf Hitler. What? You didn't think he got up there and said, "Hey guys, lets murder everyone who isn't like us!" and everyone just went along with it, did you? Be educated. If you think I made all his campaign issues up just to debunk him, I got my information from his website. See for yourself! http://www.barackobama.com/issues/

Well said, but apparently people do not care that this man is unqualified for the job and now that he has been president for 18 months his total lack of experience and his lack of love for our country and it's people have become sadly apparent. He has led us down a slippery slope towards the destruction of our republic.

Perhaps it is best for our children if this economy sinks into a depression. We have a growing percentage of the population being kicked out of their homes, losing their jobs and unable to afford healthcare.

Obama steps in with a plan to jumpstart the economy and help the middle class from sinking into quicksand. But he's the guy at fault. I don't know why he is handing over $4 billion to Acorn. Did anyone ask him?

Let's bring back some white leadership and keep the wars raging on. It's ok, we can all live in our cars.

I highly doubt we'll be calling him the best president ever when our children are paying off this stimulus bill by handing 50% of their money over to the government in taxes. Also, more than half of the country disagreed with his first two executive acts as president. Most people who start out on top have no where to go but down, so revisit your thoughts in 6 months and get back to me when we're still struggling in our economy. For someone who speaks the truth, why won't he tell us why his stimulus is handing over $4 billion to Acorn, who was under investigation for voter fraud? Educate yourself before you make a mockery of yourself.

Why does he have so many supporters??? For one, he speaks the truth about what is going on and what is needed for change. And even before he took office he took strong action to start making changes.

It might be the fact that his opposing candidate in the election made the statement that, "the fundamentals of our economy are strong". Then nominated that - shall we call her a "hee haa" for a running mate. Someone who said herself that she just a hockey mom. For starters, blew away the competition.

He stands up and says that we need radical action now or the economy will sink to drastically lower levels. He says that we need health care reform, that the war cannot continue forever and that we have to change our reputation on a global basis.

Plus he is a family man of great moral values. I don't care if the guy is purple, I love him.

Here's one for all of you. This may be the BEST president we've ever had.

This guy is just silly. When people refer to any presidential candidate as the "Messiah" it is time to consider this candidates history and intentions. This guy is a true Marxist and his own words support that.

It appears that America is headed for a civil war. The racial divide is getting much bigger as a result of this political "race". We cannot afford to vote based on a candidate's "charisma". No one is perfect but Obama's flip-flopping is a dangerous sign at this stage in the game. Usually the flip-flopping occurs in the White House. Over the past couple of years there has been a great movement to encourage us to all vote, especially appealing to younger people (commercials using celebrities). Now that everyone seems ready to exercise their right, the choice list goes from bad to worse, not good to best. However, a gender war seems more tolerable than a race war. I think the young votes are going to Obama just for the hell of having a Black president. Just curious, does anyone think the Neo-Nazis will allow this to happen? I liked your article...Great job!

To address the recent comment, yes voting records are a valuable tool when evaluating a candidate. I have little faith in voting records that only hold such a short term in office, though. A more important insight into his character came today. Friday he told Fox news that he had never heard Rev. White make racial or Anti-American statements and if he had he would have confronted the reverend, not 4 days later he says that he did indeed hear those statements and others, but he didn't agree with them. He has proven himself a liar, and words based on lies can unite no one.

Rather than checking out his campaign promises (the barackobama.com/issues link you provide), why not evaluate his voting record, both in the US Senate and his more extensive one in the Illinois Senate where he was widely credited with some important legislation (requiring -- and paying for -- video taped confessions, etc)? His record is not something he shies away from because his speeches can be backed up through them. Voting records, btw, are available on the government websites. And in a day when polarizing beliefs have stymied real change, the ability to speak well and convince friends and enemies of what matters to America shouldn't be discounted. America's reputation is in shambles, not just because of our public actions, but our public speeches. Obama offers the full package.

His first name is spelled "Barack," NOT Barak.

I think you make some excellent points about Obama. He is a very talented speaker, and he is gifted with powers of persuasion. BUT, Hillary most certainly is NOT the answer. I'd vote for Obama over Hillary, and I'm not even a Democrat! I don't feel the Republican candidates are much to be proud of either. What's a voter to do???
