Why I Became a Content Producer for AC and Why I Stayed

Why I Became a Content Producer/Why I Stayed

My son has been a CP since November 28, 2005. He kept after me to join AC. I told him that nobody wanted to read the things that I wrote. He answered, I enjoy your writing. Sure you do, I answered, you are my son. He reminded me of the time when he was ten years old: and talked me into producing and directing a Christmas Play that I wrote. He reminded me that every one loved the play.

I used him and my other son, and my little girl and children from the neighborhood as actresses and actors. The children had so much fun with our little project. They really enjoyed it. I just thought the parents and my friends loved it so much, because it was their children on stage. They did a very good acting job to pull it off. My son loved it so much because he had the lead role.

My son kept bringing up the subject that I should join AC. He had more confident in my writing than I ever had. Actually all of my children, my other family and my friends love my writing. But you know how that goes; they are my family and friends.

My son just wouldn't give up on me. He would say come on you can do it. He said AC even suggests topics you can write about if you don't know what to write. Just to get him off my back; I said okay, I will write one article. Just one article.

Three years ago, I had hip replacement surgery. It was such a success for me; I thought, ok; I can write about that. It was fun writing. So, I wrote another article. Then I submitted a poem I wrote about a baby I lost years ago, when I was young.

I don't know what got into me but I started rewriting poems that I worked on. I figured the viewers and AC would let me know if my work was not good. Viewers read my articles and even commented on some of them. I started reading other CP's materials. I sit at my computer at least an hour a day reading. I don't comment on all that I read. The articles and topics are so interesting and many are so informative. I just want to find more to read. I enjoy all that good reading.

I want to thank my son for nagging me about joining AC. I am enjoying myself. He got me back to writing again. This time, I am not writing and putting it away on the shelf. I am sharing it with others. This is a really great place to be. I used to say; I'm bored, what can I do now, or what's on T V? Now I'm at the computer, either writing or reading the other CP's work.

I even learned that there are several CP's from Covina, California, where my son and I live.

I have always loved writing, stories, plays, songs, and articles. I never gave many thoughts to publishing them. Except in 1991, I published four of my poems at the city college where I was enrolled in a creative writing class. The instructor asked each student to enter at least four of their stories or poems or whatever they wrote; in the class project. The book was placed in the college library for six months.

Writing is one way of expressing yourself self. There are so many topics to write about. Like my son said; AC even suggest topics to write about. I am learning so much by reading the other CP's articles and topics.

I have been a Content Producer since March 23, 2007. I am really enjoying myself. I am so happy that I joined AC and became a Content Producer.

I write articles, songs, poetry, short stories and stageplays. Some of my writings are fictitious and some are fact based. In the Spring of 1993, some of my poems were published in the library at Citrus Col...  View profile

Mary-I sure am glad that he kept after you, because you have a wonderful talent for story-telling that is so real, you feel like you are actually there when you read it. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent!

Great article! I too love writing for AC. It's so encouraging to know that what I write about can help others. It's also so wonderful to receive so many positive comments about my work. As a writer, the four words "I like your writing" are worth more than gold. It feels really good. :-)

Someone said something about the bible quote "casting your pearls before swine", that you never know when somewhere down the road your wisdom will make a positive difference in the life of another. Someone might read one of your poems and learn some empathy for the young woman who choose to terminate a pregnancy, rather then bring a baby into the world to face starvation, for instance. Or be motivated to do something to help feed the hungry. The only thing missing here is a link to your son's CP page! He is a wise son to honestly critique your art and encourage you to join and share.
