Why Being Happy is Important in Wealth Creation

Does Unhappiness Bring One Poverty?

Hidden in the New Age glamour and simplicity of the Law of Attraction are some important truths. It does not matter if you believe them or not, they still affect your world. And while it is easy to ignore those who support the Law of Attraction, one needs to remember that even fools are allowed to be right on occasion.

One of the beliefs that the champions of the Law of Attraction endorse is the idea that "Feeling happy now is the fastest way to bring money into your life" (The Secret---Rhonda Byrne). Is this true? Perhaps.

Let's look at the opposite: Is feeling unhappy and miserable the fastest way to bring poverty into your life? To this, we must answer a resounding "Yes!"

It is well known that stress hurts you physically. Even a minor illness will take a tremendous toil when one is emotionally upset. If an illness gets bad enough, doctor bills will pour in. Odds are that you are not prepared for unexpected major, or even minor, medical bills.

Furthermore, the more unhappy a person is, the more likely they are to be involved in a major accident. When you are unhappy, your senses and reactions times are not as a cute as they are when you are happy. Again, unhappiness can bring unexpected bills.

Being miserable can also cost you opportunities for job advancement. Speaking from personal experience, employers do not like to promote people who seem to be unhappy. Given the option between promoting the miserable and the happy-go-lucky, I used to pick the happy person. And if you showed up to a job interview all miserable, there was a high chance that I would not hire you.

Being unhappy can also hurt you if your wealth creation comes from any form of self-employment. Depressed people have a harder time getting started on projects. When you are self-employed, your wealth comes from finishing projects. It does not matter if your projects are clay pots, articles or books, or hamburgers, your potential income rests firmly on how many projects that you complete. Even those who make their money in sales or investing, have projects in the form of customers or market research.

So being unhappy can generate more bills to pay, and closes the door to moneymaking opportunities.

Being happy helps you avoid all the problems that being unhappy causes. Being happy makes you more alert, more full of energy, and more healthy. People are more likely to help you. Being happy will help you start and finish more projects. And with the bottom line of more projects completed equaling more moneymaking opportunities, being happy is a better route to wealth than unhappiness.
