The Search
Many people search myspace for long lost friends and family. It's a place where you can reunite with people that you went to High School and College with. The search can be long and grueling if people don't use their real name. Sometimes you have to go through other people's MySpaces to find lost friends.
Nosiness
I think it's common for people to wonder what people are up to now. I'm at the age where people are getting married, having kids, and moving around the country. it's interesting to see what people are doing for a living and how their lives have changed.
Friends
The challenge of gaining a lot of friends is another reason that people get addicted to MySpace. If you have a lot of friends then you are popular. If you don't then you might feel like a loser. The search comes into play here when you are trying to find more friends to add to your MySpace.
Messaging
Just like it is fun to get mail, it's fun to get messages. I think many people like to send messages to their friends just to Say Hi or see how they are doing. The addicting part comes in when you feel the need to check for messages frequently throughout the day.
Comments
Pictures are a huge part of MySpace. Many people upload pictures frequently so people can see what is going on with their lives. Once new pictures are posted, the individual might send out a bulletin announcing that new pictures have been posted and to check them out. Then your friends can write comments on your pictures. Just like getting messages, it's fun to get comments on your pictures. Especially if they are good ones!
Creativity
MySpace allows for a great deal of creativity. It's fun to upload pictures, add music, videos and change the layout of your MySpace page. To many, this creativity is an outlet that can get addicting.
