The Better Business Bureau reliability program, charges any company a yearly fee to use their logo upon their website, in an attempt to show that the company in question, works hand and hand with the Better Business Bureau. However, there are sites out there who don't wish to pay the fee the Better Business Bureau charges, and they still make an effort to work hand and hand with them. It's hardly fair that though a company didn't pay the fee, and they make an effort if any problems should arise, to work closely with the Better Business Bureau aren't permitted to use the logo, and therefore don't appear as legitimate as those that do carry the Better Business Bureau logo.
I use to strongly support the Better Business Bureau, and often ran there in a time of being screwed hoping to have the issue settled. Time and time again, the Better Business Bureau did nothing more then read each sides reply making sure there was no bad language, and that each side was making an effort to settle the matter. In the end the Better Business Bureau closing the matter even before the issue was truly settled or closed. The Better Business Bureau is meant to protect both the company, and the consumer against harm before legal action is required. However, it appears as though the Better Business Bureau is more interested in charging fees, and ignoring complaints then actually handling them. I have better luck contacting my congressmen then dealing with the Better Business Bureau. The Better Business Bureau doesn't make businesses better because they are more concerned about making money then helping.
I have in the past, used the Better Business Bureau to look up a company to see how they handled complaints. I've always remembered though, my dealing with the Better Business Bureau. I've always had a bad feeling for how many consumers may have had their cases closed before their needs could be met, and the Better Business Bureau marking the complaints as any of the following:
BBB determined the company made a reasonable offer to resolve the issues, but the consumer did not accept the offer.
BBB determined the company provided proper verification that indicated there was no obligation to resolve the issues of the complaint.
BBB determined that despite the company's reasonable effort to address complaint issues, the consumer remained dissatisfied.
This to me means that the Better Business Bureau took it upon themselves to decide that the company which paid for the logo, was in the right despite the fact the consumer wasn't pleased, therefore nothing was solved. Better Business Bureau use to be on the site of the consumer, but it's obvious not anymore.
The Better Business Bureau doesn't make businesses better by closing complaints, before the issues have been addressed. The Better Business Bureau doesn't make businesses better, by choosing to address the complaints from the company that paid for the logos side. The Better Business Bureau is meant to be an impartial party that solves complaints that the company either won't address or ignores.

Post a CommentAre you a contractor thinking of defending a charge brought against you by a customer through the arbitrations services of the Better Business Bureau? Are you thinking that you will receive a fairer hearing in a more relaxed atmosphere while avoiding the expensive costs of an attorney? My advice to you is DO NOT!
When I agreed to have the Better Business Bureau (BBB) settle my dispute, I understood that the rules of evidence are more relaxed than they would be in a formal courtroom setting. The BBB says as much in their literature. But simultaneously I was expecting that the seasoned arbitrators would have the ability to balance and filter the information presented according to the rules of hearsay. I was deceived.
In a recent arbitration, the better business Bureau demonstrated to me that they lack arbitration skills. First and foremost, they demonstrated that they lack the ability to listen. They attributed testimony to me that was inaccurate at best. Second, they demonst
The Better Business Bureau is for people
who actually think that these people give a dam. Well guess what..they are being brought up on charges everywhere for claiming to be NON PROFIT but in fact being extremely profitable.
My own experience both as a consumer and business owner has been one of complete disgust. I was completely in shock how I was treated and when I asked to have my name remove from their records they really told me where to go.
I am currently in the process of taking legal action against them as they gave me an (F) rating and I have no complaints NEVER had any complaints BUT INSTEAD they say I am such a difficult person I deserve this rating. Of course when my Lawyer got to them they claimed they had a complaint.
But it got lost...
The (f) rating is attatched to my file.
when of there operators accidently told me
JUST PAY THE YEARLY FEE and I am sure it will go away.

The biggest single problem with the BBB is
they will allow a complaint to get entered EVEN if a consumer has not tried to reach the company to make a mends.
This violates any true subtance that ANY true democracy would offer.
The BBB by allowing ongoing complaints or complaints that NOT had at least some proof like a registered letter to the company or something like that.
Without giving a business an opportunity to respond directly to the consumer.
then and only then, I would agree that the complaint should move forward.
But I have heard from alot of business over the years who say the BBB is way too quick to act without knowing the TRUE FACTS.
My advise save your money...join anything but the BBB
And CONSUMERS you may think a recommendation or a company with a complaint will help you find a better company..think twice. Because the MORE a company pays THE LESS chance a genuine complaint will show up on there record.
