The Bible is without a doubt the inerrant, infallible, inspired word of Almighty God. Consider the following:
The Bible was written over a period of 1500 years by 40 different authors who wrote in three different languages. Yet this collection of 66 diverse documents contains one unified storyline with no contradictions.
Hundreds of Biblical prophecies have been fulfilled. For example, Is.13:1-23:18; Jer. 46-51; and Ezek. 25-32 forecast the doom of various foreign nations hostile to Israel many years before the actual events occurred. And the 53rd chapter of Isaiah is such an obvious depiction of Jesus' substitutionary atonement for our sins on the cross (700 years before the Crucifixion) that this passage is omitted from regular Jewish synagogue readings.
The Old Testament is 99 percent accurate when compared to the ancient Dead Sea Scrolls, and the New Testament is 99.9 percent accurate when compared to over 5,000 NT manuscripts, many of which date from the first three centuries A.D. (The miniscule percentage of discrepancies contained in both the OT and NT are minor issues such as misspellings that do not alter major Christian doctrines.)
Read the Bible and let its eternal truths edify, enlighten and enliven you. Let it cleanse your mind and purify your soul. Let it convince you that Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life!
The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.
It is the traveler's map, the pilgrim's staff, the pilot's compass, the soldier's sword, and the Christian's charter. Here paradise is restored, Heaven opened, and the gates of hell disclosed.
CHRIST is its grand subject, our good the design, and the glory of God its end.
It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently, and prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, will reward the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its contents.
