Their 8th consecutive championship is a record that still stands today and is a symbol of their accomplisments and achievements. The former Hall-of-Famer, Red Auerbach, is arguably one of the most influential coaches in the National Basketball Association. His contributions not only helped thrive basketball in many ways but it also helped recognize the sport as a whole. His coaching and dedication is what made basketball today. But if there was one thing that separated him, it would be in fact his players.

For many years, Boston is a team of legendary players. Bob Cousy was known for his agility and dribbling skills, Bill Russell was known for his talent and athleticism, Larry Bird was known for his sharpshooting and recognition, etc. This players symbolize what Boston basketball is all about. They help define how the sport is played and won. Whether these players may be exceptionally good, these players definitely worked hard and challenged each other in the game. Their contributions made it easy for their teammates understand their role and plan. But if it wasn't for the players, it was for the coach. But many decades have passed and the Celtics are looking to thrive once again in their franchise. With the lack of making the playoffs the last years, the Boston Celtics have send a message in the offseason that they are going to compete. Paul Pierce, who is the most experienced player in his team, finally has help. With the acquisition of Keving Garnett and Ray Allen, the Boston Celtics are looking forward to win a championship once again. With the two veteran players, the Celtics will be a team with a new look and style. But it's not in the court that will make a difference, it's in the league.

Before the Celtics signed Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, Paul Pierce was the only player getting paid $10 million or more. But that soon changed with the additions of KG and Ray Allen. Both of the two veterans have a combined salary of over $30 million this year and a combined $45 million between all three players(Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce). So, not only they have value within the team but they also have experienced within the team. And there is no doubt that the "Big 3" will be the players to look for in the league. Their contribution and assistance will make a difference for a team that did not win 25 games last season.

But if its the players that are going to make a difference, then you should look no further. Last season, Paul Pierce averaged about 20 points a game with the team, the only player in the team to average 20 points or more. And also led the team in both rebounds and assists. But that soon will change with their acquisitions of Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen. Both of the two veterans have a combined average of points of 40 or more and KG led the league last season in rebounds with 12.8 a game. Not only that will help the team get balance but it will also get the help it needs. Not only will they make a difference in the league but also in the East.

If there is one player that is important to this team is Doc Rivers. The coach finally has players that can help him achieve the ultimate goal and success. There will be no reason for the coach to lose. With talent all over the team, the coach will have no excuses towards their success or failure. He will have opportunities and solutions to what will make the team succeed. His contributions will be greatly recognized within the team and his schemes will be much improved. His decision making will not only change the team but it will change the look.

It has been in the 80's when the Celtics was a team of success and achievements. And this upcoming season will be no different than any other year for Celtic fans. There hasn't been talk like this since the 80's. There will be big expectations toward the team this year. Everyone will look for the Boston Celtics this upcoming season for one reason and one reason only.............how will they fare???? They will be a team that everyones eyes will be looking at.
