Muramasa: The Demon Blade was released in Japan on April 9th. The Nintendo Wii exclusive game is developed by Vanillaware and will be published by Ignition Entertainment in North America when it comes out on September 8th. Despite the game's quality, Muramasa: The Demon Blade did not sell well in Japan. In fact, Marvelous Entertainment, who owns the rights to the game, may consider porting the game to the Playstation 3 and/or Xbox 360 because of the low sales in the Nintendo Wii version.

You shouldn't wait for the Playstation 3 or Xbox 360 versions since the game is already great enough to warrant a purchase, however. Here are a few reasons why you should buy Muramasa: The Demon Blade on the Nintendo Wii.

Developer's History
Vanillaware is one of the most underrated development studios in the industry. While the golden age of 2D video games may be over years ago, the Japanese developer is keeping it alive with excellent games like Princess Crown, Odin Sphere and GrimGrimoire. Muramasa: The Demon Blade on the Nintendo Wii is the latest title for the acclaimed developer and may be their best effort yet.

Beautiful Visuals
Muramasa: The Demon Blade isn't your ordinary 2D game either. The game completely takes advantage of the Nintendo Wii's abilities to handle 2D sprites. The high-detailed visuals are further enhanced by the incredible eastern-influenced artwork of Muramasa: The Demon Blade. So while it may be a 2D game, the upcoming title is also one of the best-looking video games on the Nintendo Wii thanks to its unique look in addition to the top notch 2D sprites.

Stylish Gameplay
Muramasa: The Demon Blade has two controller options: the Wii Remote and the Classic Controller. More than other video games developed by Vanillaware, the upcoming Nintendo Wii game is about action. Using the simple control scheme, you can effortlessly perform one stylish move after another. Although Muramasa: The Demon Blade is accessible, it is also a tough enough game to satisfied hardcore gamers.

Increased Replayability
Muramasa: The Demon Blade may not be a long game but it has a lot of replayability. There are two characters with unique storylines to choose from. Furthermore, the Nintendo Wii game has three modes: Unmatched (where the game becomes more like a RPG), Carnage (for more action) and Insane Death (hardest difficulty in the game). In addition to the different play styles, Muramasa: The Demon Blade also has over 100 swords to collect.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade is shaping up to be one of the best games on the system in 2009. Make sure you don't overlook this hidden gem when it comes out for the Nintendo Wii on September 8th.
