Why You Should Buy Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for PSP

Otter
Many were surprise to learn that a full-fledged Soul Calibur was announced this spring for the PSP. It didn't make any sense as publisher Namco and developer Project Soul decided to produce a non-related action game titled Soul Calibur Legends on a more powerful system, the Nintendo Wii. Therefore, they are showing a lot of trusts in the PSP by bringing Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny to the handheld system. Here are a few reasons why you should be excited about the upcoming fighting game for the PSP.

Great Graphics
You will be surprised at how close Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny on the PSP looks compared to Soul Calibur IV on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Although it may not be as detailed, the visuals are absolutely incredible in this handheld fighting game with fleshed-out character models and nice backgrounds. Add in 60 frames per second and you have one of the best-looking PSP games yet.

New Characters
Soul Calibur IV came with two Star Wars character: Darth Vader, Starkiller and Yoda. Unfortunately, theses fighters couldn't make it to the PSP port. To make up for it, Namco and Project Soul are adding two characters to the roster. The first of which is Dampierre, a new original character created for the Soul Calibur universe.

The other new fighter is someone who is well known in the gaming industry: Kratos from God of War. The weapon he uses, the Blade of Chaos, fits perfectly into the weapon-based combat of Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny. In total, you can expect over 30 characters in the upcoming PSP fighting game.

Streamlined Gameplay
Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny for the PSP is based on Soul Calibur IV for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. What make the series unique aside from the weapons are the full 3D movements. Soul Calibur IV added in a Critical Finish, which results in an instant win once the Soul Gauge is filled up by constantly attacking the opponent. The ability to destroy the opponent's armor is also present. Despite being ported to a system with lesser power, Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny retains all the excellent gameplay additions for Soul Calibur IV.

Content Overload
New to Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny is a single-player mission-based mode, which is designed for novice players for them to learn their crafts and hone their skills for the rest of the modes of the upcoming PSP game. Although Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny does not support online play, you can still fight wirelessly within close proximity.

Soul Calibur: Broken Destiny looks like it will do the excellent fighting series justice on the PSP. Make sure you check it out when it releases on September 1.
