The Nintendo is the fastest selling video game system ever. Since launching in late 2006, it has already accumulated more than 50 million units sold worldwide. While the hardware sales have slowed significantly in recent months, the popular system is still handily beating the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. In fact, the Nintendo Wii often outsells both high-definition systems combined.
For that reason, it would be a big mistake for Activision to ignore the Nintendo Wii when it comes to their biggest title, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. Activision has aspirations for their sure-fire hit to become the best-selling game in the history of the gaming industry. For that to happen, they need to put Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 onto as many video game systems as possible, including the most popular home console that is currently on the market.
Call of Duty: World at War
The prequel to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was a smash hit on the PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360. Not many people know, however, that Call of Duty: World at War also sold a million units on the Nintendo Wii. While it offers a different experience from the mainline titles, the Nintendo Wii version still did well enough due to strong brand name and a good advertising campaign.
While it makes take a little bit of effort to create a graphics engine specifically for the Nintendo Wii in addition to implementing the motion control schemes, the end result will be worth it for Activision to bring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to the Nintendo Wii.
Brand Loyalty
While the Call of Duty series may not be as popular on the Nintendo Wii when compared other video game systems, you never known what will happen during the next round of home consoles. Each generation is a totally different beast from the previous one. As a result, Activision needs to bring Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 to ensure that the same gamers that bought the game will return to the brand during future years.

Post a CommentI agree with what this article has to say and I would like to add that even though people say Wii is a kiddy casual system that doesn't sell hardcore games that is not true at all... there are tons of hardcore gamers that only have Wiis and if people don't release games like Modern Warfare 2 they have more reason to say it and scare away more people... Wii is in dire need of hardcore games many owners were drooling over "The Conduit" a highly popular game among Wii.... it has sold lots of copies. I don't mind if you give us a watered down version like what Treyarch did with World at War because at least we have something to play. I myself still play the Wii version of World at War.
