Why Call Girls Are Having the Best Month Ever

For Anyone Who Has Considered a Highly Paid Career as an Escort

Everyone knows about high priced call girls. They are beautiful, talented, and paid extravagantly as the companion to wealthy men. But no one really knows who they are, where they came from, or why they've chosen to sell their bodies for a living? This month, former New York governor Eliot Spitzer, has entertained the world by allowing us to peek at one of the oldest professions: prostitution.

Sure, through the media, Spitzer was scorned. Once well-regarded as a prominent family man and government official, now he wears the title of being a big jerk. He looks like nothing more than a greedy, balding pervert who wears calf-length black socks when he engages in sex with women other than his wife. Besides his wife and teenage daughters, what about the women who are caught up in the middle of his illicit scandal? What about Ashley Dupre and Kristen "Billie" Davis? How do we really view them? Are they home wreckers or simply just providing the service which was required of them? Do we see them as victims?

Whatever your personal opinion, one thing is for sure: call girls are having the best month ever! I will tell you why I think so.

First of all, let's be honest. Call girls make a lot of money. Money is the biggest incentive at any job. Ashley Dupre worked as an escort at the Emperor's Club making more money in an hour than many of us will make on our bi-weekly paychecks. Also, from what we now know, Spitzer, also known as "Client 9", enjoyed Dupre's company on several occasions. Reportedly, he has spent tens of thousands of dollars on call girls. Allegedly, he has even shelled out cash for the companionship of our newest night girl, Madam Kristen "Billie" Davis. Madam Davis ran the Wicked Models Agency in Manhattan until it was busted last week. Wicked Models is arguably the largest escort agency in the world, operating business in five other countries. Maybe you've seen those flashy Marilyn Monroe-esque pictures that have shown up on several Internet sites? We can say what we want about Madam Davis, but the woman is making serious bank. Her net worth has been estimated at $2 million.

Another reason we are interested in call girls is that we have established that they also have "other" talents. For example, let's turn the focus to Dupre. Who would've thought that she actually used her mouth doing something that everyone could enjoy? If you saw the guys on "Good Morning America" promoting Dupre, you probably know that she is an aspiring pop singer. She's no Mariah Carey, but she actually sounds pretty good. Her myspace page boasts over 10 million hits. Some people have liked her so much they have even added her song, "What We Want" to their myspace profiles. As for Madam Davis, it's feasible to say that she is a great conversationalist. According to an article by The New York Post, she has already earned 32 credits towards a masters in psychology. Consequently, she is a pimp, but she definitely is no dummy! Now, if she could've talked Spitzer into taking off those damn socks!!!

Next, I think that corporate America better watch out! Evidently, you can move up the ladder pretty quickly within an escort agency. Dupre and Madam Davis are proof that a call girl, whom may have once faced adversity, can achieve Easy Street. As stated on her myspace page, Dupre left a broken family and abuse at the age of 17. Still, we haven't seen Dupre acknowledge that she wants anyone to know any more than what's posted there. She has yet to agree to a sit down with Barbara Walters or Oprah Winfrey. However, from what we have heard through the grapevine about Dupre, seemingly, she was just a young girl in search of fame and fortune. Ultimately, she has gotten just that. At this point, even less is known about Madam Davis. The New York Post describes her as a "busty bottle blond", who left a California trailer park. Well, she literally climbed that ladder really far! Madam Davis's reputation is that of self-promotion, partying, and what is rumored to be over 10,000 names in her little black book. Both of these women have been extremely successful.

These days, no one wants their daughters to be like Britney Spears or Paris Hilton. But with stories like that of Ashley Dupre's, the life of a call girl is looking a bit more glamorous than maybe it should. Forget climbing into the car with some john who only wants to pay you $20 for your services, and them dump you out on the next block. Forget about getting smacked around by your pimp, and then giving him all your money. Working as an escort gives you the finer things in life, such as Louis Viutton, diamond necklaces, expensive trips to France, and CASH, CASH, CASH. The beauty of it all, is that no one has to know your name. You are just providing a service, and in exchange, able to pay the rent on time and then some. It seems like it is paying off for Dupre and Madam Davis. According to several media outlets, Dupre is in serious talk about her music career. Her single is already available on her personal on line store and has made over $200,000 from downloads. And, although, Madam Davis was arrested and faces up to 15 years in prison for her part in illegal prostitution, she's not going back to the trailer park anytime soon.

This article was written in fun, but not to make light of prostitution in it's entirety. As a woman, I have questioned myself if, given the opportunity, I would ever consider this type of work? Perhaps many women have done the same. Let's get real. For many of us, life is a struggle. Times are hard. I sympathize with the fact that sometimes people have to do things that aren't necessarily pleasant to others. Obviously, prostitution is never going away. I don't think that the question is whether or not it becomes legal. I believe that the main concern is how each one of us will handle the situation if this is a career that our mothers, our sisters, or our daughters choose?

We can choose to turn our noses up at the "ladies of the night". We can shun them. We can call them degrading to the female species. We can choose to admire them. We can acknowledge that their jobs are just a small part of who they are. This is suppose to be one of the benefits of freedom. We are free to choose whatever path that we want to take.

One of my favorite poems is "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost. I believe that it exemplifies the reasoning of choices, or the alternative kinds of lives some of us may choose to lead. The following quote is from Frost's poem: ..."two roads diverged in a wood and I---I, took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference".

Entertaining article. Although I wouldn't choose this for my own career, I can understand why some women fall into it.
