Why Can't I Find What I Am Searching For?

Looking for Information on the Internet Can Be Difficult

Jason Gallagher
Chances are at some point in your life you have typed a phrase into a search engine on the Internet. It does not matter if you utilize the search box in Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc, how many times have you dug past the first two or three pages of search results? Yes, many people click on what they see on the first page, which is only human nature. Of course certain links may be exactly what folks are looking for, but how many times have you become frustrated by not finding what you were looking for? There is a simple explanation for this phenomenon, and it involves knowing how the Internet and search engines work.

You see, the clever folks who write web pages know exactly how tricks like search engine optimization and latent semantic indexing (called SEO and LSI for short) work in regards to the major search engines. These people are the true moneymakers of the Internet. You see advertisers pay for page views. Page views translate into clicks, which translates into sales. While this is very similar to every Google AdSense user's dreams, at least in terms of clicking, it is not so effective if you are looking for information on a given topic. Sometimes you need to dig a little deeper than the first one or two pages on a topic. The get rich quick pirates of the Internet have figured out how to exploit the best keywords, and they are making money, perhaps lots of money.

The problem that lies within is quite obvious, the best information may not, and most likely is not, the best SEO or LSI written piece on the Internet. This fact results in that particular web page being listed far down the rankings on the search results page. This only results in folks either giving up their search altogether, or getting distracted and surfing somewhere else. All too often, web surfers go to the same sites to find new information. This means the blog or article with the best information, could never be found. Every writer or web master knows a little about SEO and LSI an most people have heard the terms, but how many people realize that information and searches can be high jacked all in the name of page views? Granted high jacked is stern way to look at it, but just type in "work from home" into Yahoo or Google and you will see how far the situation is.

So if you are looking for information on any topic, do not be afraid to glance a little farther into your search. Not only will you likely find more relevant information, but also you may discover a website or blog that you start to follow on a regular basis. Remember SEO and LSI are great tools, but just like any other great tools they can be used for whatever reason that presents itself.
