Why I Can't Live Without Books! The Joy of Reading

Reading can be an enjoyable past time. In fact, it may even save you money. Think of all the activities you participate in when you find yourself bored and searching for something to do. Do you go to the movies? Find a nice restaurant? Shop? All those activities cost money. However, you can read for free. Just pop down to your local library and you'll see just what I mean.

Now, let's face it. I don't read to save money, and if you're a reader, neither do you. We read for the sheer enjoyment, for entertainment, for information. Walk into any bookstore and the world is your oyster. You'll find books on every topic imaginable, and some you never imagined! In fact, I recently wrote a book. And, if you want to save some money, you can get it as an e-book for cheap! Let's say that's not your cup of tea. That you prefer something more...ah...entertaining. If that's the case, you'll want to read Velociity by Dean Koontz. That was an awesome book! If reading about controversial topics is more to your liking, pick up any book by Jodi Picoult. I've read several and have never been disappointed.

Or if you prefer reading novels about friendships between women, try The Three of Us by Cynthia Victor. With any of these selections, you can't go wrong. Whatever your interest is, just read, read, and read some more. If you can't find what you want at the library, I recommend first web surfing to Amazon.com. Sometimes you can pick up used books there and save a ton of money, especially if you buy lots of books. (We avid readers tend to do that).

What? Me....Read? If that sounds like you, you're not alone. Many times in today's fast-paced world, people chose to see the movie rather than buy the book. If you've often made that choice, it's neither right nor wrong. However, I'll let you in on a little secret....you miss many points of interest in a story by not reading the book. There is only so much screen time for a movie. A book can be as long as the author wants it to be! I've never been disappointed whether I've read the book before or after the movie made from it. Sometimes there are a lot a differences. Sometimes flat onscreen characters come alive on the printed page.
