Why You Can't Use Solar Energy to Power Your Home and Get Off the Grid Today

MisterSteve
At this moment, all around the world, there are scientists, governments and an army of solar energy industry employees working towards making the manufacturing and installation of solar energy panels cheaper and easier. One day, it will be a simple matter to simply slap some solar panels on your roof and begin collecting free electricity. Unfortunately, despite what the United States government might lead you to believe, solar panels and solar energy technology is extraordinary expensive at the moment, and will continue to be prohibitively expensive for most individuals and families for some time to come.

Because of the phenomenally expensive manufacturing process, the utilization of solar energy technology to get off the grid is almost impossible for most people. While there is certainly all manner of technology being manufactured and innovations being discovered on a regular basis at the moment, it is simply far too inefficient to utilize solar energy technology to power an entire home. Only those individuals who have the means to pay the exorbitant amounts required for the solar energy technology are able to get off the grid and power their homes with the energy from the sun.

The politicians would like you to believe that solar energy is a viable technology and can be used right away. This is simply not the case, regardless of any doubletalk that you might have heard coming out of your favorite politicians mouth. As the saying goes, politicians will generally say anything that will further their own careers, and solar energy technology is no exception. The truth is, we are far from being able to utilize solar energy technology on a significantly large enough basis to completely break our dependency on the grid.

Being realistic about the opportunities to use renewable energy sources means facing up to the fact that these energy sources simply are not ready for prime time, nor will they be for some time to come. With windmills and solar panels combined, it is still almost impossible to generate the type of energy that an entire household would require to suit their needs.

Until the technology catches up, the talk about renewal energy is simply that; talk. Once the solar energy technology evolves and becomes less expensive, it might be a suitable source of renewable energy for people around the world. Until that day, it is obvious that solar energy technology and the manufacturing process required to make solar energy panels are simply far too expensive to be used on a regular basis in the modern day.
