Why The Carol Burnett Show is the Funniest Show of All Time

As a kid and teenager, I remember watching The Carol Burnett Show. The Carol Burnett Show was a classic comedy show. I never tired of watching her show or tuning in to reruns. Our family used to watch it every week and it was truly the funniest show on television at that time.

The show was comprised of a series of skits. My favorite show was one where Carol was dressed up as a British woman and she was talking to a palace guard. Tim Conway was wearing the royal guard getup, complete with tall, black hat, and long black suit with coat tails.

She was trying to ask him some questions, and at some point, she gives up trying to get him to talk, and I think she even 'tapped' on him

What was funny was that he was trying to stare straight ahead, but you could see that he was fighting bursting out in laughter. That made it even funnier to the viewer.

Another classic was when she would dress up in old lady clothes and Vicky Lawrence and her would act like mother-in-law and daughter. Vicky Lawrence would pretend that she was an opinionated old hag and Carol would speak to her and use different sounding voices.

Harvey Korman and Tim Conway would tease each other at certain times in the show and they'd try to keep a straight face. Once in a while, Tim would dress up like a woman. It seems to me that there was another man in the show. I forget his name. Dark hair, friendly face, handsome. What was his name? Oh, I remember now, it was Lyle Waggoner.

At some point in the show, Carol would ask the audience for questions and she'd answer them.

At the end of the show, she'd sing. She'd sing a song that said, "I'm so glad we had this time, together! Just to have a laugh and sing a song. Seems we both get started and before you know it, comes the time we have to say, so long. Good night, everybody!" She'd grab her ear and wiggle it. This was her signal to her grandmother sitting at home that the show was indeed over. Her grandmother was hard of hearing and had raised Carol.
