I started working for chacha a few weeks ago and it was the first I'd ever heard of it. I'm sure many of you are thinking the same thing I was when I first heard about chacha, and that is "how lazy do you have to be to have someone else surf the net for you?" As a guide I quickly learned how laziness has absolutely nothing to do with it! If you're a student doing research on a paper, you'll cut your research time in half by using chacha. A chacha guide will find the exact information you need on your topic, without taking 20 minutes to sift and sort through information irrelevant to your needs.
One of my proudest moments at chacha was when I did a search on Irish Clans for an "info seeker". The info seeker told me that they'd been studying and researching Irish Genealogy for years but had never been able to find the information that I found for her. It is rewarding to be able to help people find what they need. The chacha system is still very new and improving all the time. The service is great now, and will only get better as time goes by. The guides at chacha are what set this search engine apart from all others.
Chacha guides are people from all over the United States. I would assume that many of us, like me, are stay at home mothers; retired individuals or people just trying to supplement their income also make up a big part of the guide population. We each bring our own little bits of expertise into the Chacha system. We all have certain subjects that we hold vast or specialized knowledge in, that's how we're able to offer the best service.
Becoming a guide for Chacha.com is currently by invitation only. Guides are given a certain number of invites that we can pass out to whomever we like, as long as they match up with some basic requirements (i.e. over 18, legally able to work in the U.S., ect). I receive the occasional search from an info seeker interested in working for chacha and getting an invite. I usually always refer them to the "paid to post" forum www.mylot.com, which is where I received my invite. If you're interested in an invite you could also try searching blogs, other forums, and community places online.
A guide will only be interested in inviting individuals who are serious about working for Chacha. Whoever we sponsor or invite into the system will become a part of our network. A sponsor guide will earn 10% of what their invites earn. That's motivation enough to find the best possible candidate for the job.
When we welcomed the internet into our homes so many years ago, we brought in a wealth of invaluable information. Billions upon billions of thoughts, words, ideas, facts, and knowledge has been poured into this thing we call the web, and it continues to grow every second. Chacha helps you dig through that knowledge, to get the exact thing that you've been searching for.
