Why Your Children Should Not Control Your Mornings

A Few Ideas and Suggestions for Parents

Mrs. Renee
Does how quick you get out of the house in the morning really depend on your children. One thing that you should make sure that you do is nip this in the bud as soon as it begins. Your children should understand that you are the boss of the house and that what you say goes. If you let your children get away with calling the shots in the morning, you can really begin paying for it as they get older.

Since this seems to be a big problem with some of the parents in my area, I decided to sit down with some of the parents and get their viewpoint. I talked to about four parents who have had their children make them consistently late for work. One woman even stated that she was put on probation at work because of her constant lateness. This is when she decided to take back her mornings. Based on the information that I gathered from the parents that I spoke with I was able to come up with the following ideas and suggestions.

The first thing that you need to do is make sure that your children get to bed at a decent hour. Most doctors will recommend that your children get at least eight hours of sleep every night. So how early they go to bed really depends on what time they have to wake up in the morning. Don't be surprised if your children give you a hard time when trying to get them into bed. Remember if you take the time to lay down the law, then you will not have to worry about fighting with them. Some children tend to stay up all night trying to do homework. This is usually because most kids automatically go outside to play as soon as they get home. Of course you want your child to have plenty of playtimes, but it is also important to teach your child what priorities in life should have first place. If you start when they are young, then you will avoid having additional problems when they are older. One parent that I spoke with suggestive that if you make your children do their homework as soon as they come home from school then you will not have to worry about them being up all night. Of course this may mean that they will have fewer playtimes, but it will definitely make your morning go a lot smoother. Besides they will have plenty of time to play on the weekends. These are just a few ideas and suggestions that you may find helpful, when it comes to getting control of your mornings.
