Why I Chose to Self-Publish My Poetry Collection

Imogen Rayne AAB BSCOM
In honor of my hero and best friend Isom Ray Plyler, who is and always was more than a grandpa to me. This year, will be the third year, since he passed away and I am a little sad he never got to see what I have accomplished as an aspiring author. However, I know he is no longer suffering and he is watching over me every day. So far, I have already written over 500 articles and poems for Helium and Associated Content, under my pen name Imogen Rayne.

Recently, I decided to self-publish a book through Lulu.com, which would allow me to place all of my poetry into one large collection. My experience with this venture was amazingly simple and the publish program was easy to follow. Unfortunately, I had never considered self-publishing, until I saw how simple it could be. Personally, I recommend this website to any author who is interested in self-publishing their work also.

This collection of poems is called "Rhymes of the Heart" and it is an inspiring yet emotional compilation of poems. These poems offer a variety of spiritual, uplifting, romantic poems that will touch you or your loved ones heart. I hope you will enjoy the poems that I have written to express my own thoughts in rhyme. Additionally, they chronicle the emotions I felt, as I continued my daily walk as a wife and mother.

The collection of poems will also allow the reader feel my own struggles with my health and my emotions. I also wrote about losing my beloved grandfather to lung cancer and his struggle as well. My thoughts come from my trials and blessings I have endured and many readers will be able to identify with how I felt. I thoroughly hope you enjoy this new collection of poems, which is available as a paperback book or an e-book.

In addition to my budding writing career, I am the Founder and President of the Laugh at Cancer Organization which is a non-profit organization. Our mission is helping families facing cancer touch by offering hope and support. Furthermore, ten percent of each sale will benefit Laugh at Cancer Organization. So, please consider helping me make a difference by purchasing my collection of poetry.

Good for you for having the courage to do it. I keep saying I'm going to write an ebook, but somehow never get around to it.

I'm so proud of you Crystal and I know your grandpa would be too. It's great that you're published and I only pray for the best for you. I'll have to be content with writing for this site, as I don't do it often enough for anything else. God bless you always.

Good luck with the poetry book. I have some stuff up on Lulu as well and it is very easy to self publish with them.

I sometimes wish I had the time and drive to do the same... as it is, I am read here and am satisfied with that.
