Why Christians Cling to the Political Right

.

When you look at the political issues that drive our votes today, trying to figure out why most Christians consistently vote Republican will lead you into quagmire that can make your head spin. Looking at the issues with a basic understanding of what Christianity is and what Christians stand for, one would assume that people who vote based on their Christian values would vote left of the line. Now, before I get screamed at for making generalizations, let me be clear that I understand there are millions of Christians who vote Democrat. This series of articles is aimed at the voice of the Christians, and whether the majority Christians like it or not, the voice that most Americans believe is speaking for all Christians is coming from the mouths of the Evangelicals, aka, the Christian Right (an ironic name in my opinion, as they are neither truly Christian nor right).

These are the voters that agree with Mike Huckabee's recent assertion that we should conform the Constitution of the United States to reflect God's law. Many Christian's I have talked to admit that this is going too far. Many Christians understand perfectly well that we do not life in a Christian nation, but a free nation.

Many Christians support American's right to worship as they choose, and do not think it is fair that we change the laws of this country to reflect their religion, which would force Jewish people, Muslims, Buddhists, atheists, and people of myriad other religions to conform to Christian beliefs. But there exists a large group of Christians that seek dominion, not just over the United States, but the world. This series of articles is about them.

In parts two through seven of this series, I will examine the major issues on the campaign trail today: The Economy and Welfare, Corporate Control and Corruption of Government, American Freedom, War, Health Care, and the Environment. In part eight, I will examine what I refer to as the fake issues, those issues that are placed on the table by politicians to try to woo the Christians to their corner. Nobody actually plans to do anything about them. They are: Abortion and Gay Marriage.

Please stay tuned. Part 2 of the series, Christians, The Economy, and Welfare, is coming soon.
