Why Cocky and Funny Works in Dating

For males the worst part about dating is that they have to compete against their inner selves which tell them to be "good guys" and the natural desire of woman encourage "cocky and funny" in men. The problem is that too many people are acting "cocky and funny" and this might be leading to a cultural shift of immaturity. What should a guy do if he wants to maintain his integrity and still be attractive to woman?

The first thing we should understand is that boys aren't expected to grow up until 30 years of age. Prior to this modern era boys were expected to be men by the age of 16 and this moved to 18, moved on to 21 and now is around 30. During these times the most attractive feature of a man was the values of kindness, religion, education, income and looks. Even though these values have honor, for most woman they are not interested.

Woman are now interested in fun. They are educated, no longer look for men to take care of them, aren't expecting a life partner (i.e. high divorce rate), and go out to have fun. Women have lost the ideal of finding the right person to take care of them because they earn their own money. It takes woman many bad relationships, a failed marriage, some children and hard times before they understand that honorable men have a place.

This doesn't mean that all women think along these immature lines but it does seem that the younger they are the more they are interested in fun versus good. Think about immigrant woman, woman who have no income, and woman of those cultures that are traditional and you will find that they are still interested in traditional men.

Cocky and funny works because it shows two traits to woman-confident and fun. Unfortunately, cocky doesn't really show confidence but it does show immaturity and bad manners. Commenting about people's body types, thinking you are the center of the world, or being rude is all about looking cool.

Confidence is about knowing your beliefs, knowing your skills, and not being afraid of people because you are confident about whom you are. This is very different from cocky. Cocky is about covering your faults with jokes and not recognizing your inadequacy's. For example, feeling small in a big world will lead you take life like a joke when in reality you are still scared.

Does cocky and fun work? Absolutely! Sometimes I feel as though I am in a jolly mood and go out and crack all types of stupid jokes. I make fun of people, use my wit and seem to constantly laugh. Woman come and talks to me because they think I'm interesting and they want to get to know me (not all women but a few). The problem I found is that on the second date I can't sustain my stupidity. Determine the type of guy you want to be and act natural and confident and you will do just fine.
