Allowing content that you own to be placed on YouTube will create a fan base for that content and drives fans to your website and this will generate revenue. Suppose you own an MLB team and you post videos on YouTube then people will view the content and become fans. This will lead to increased web traffic and merchandising sales. If you are an NCAA school or coach then you can use YouTube to post clips of recent games. This will promote the player to the NFL, NBA, or MLB and the team, as a whole will see increased attention. Profiling students on YouTube may lead to an increased student population in the future also. If you work for a school such as UCLA or USC then you could post videos of what the college has to offer students. This would push information to students around YouTube and will lead to a constant revenue stream for the school. Hulk Hogan has recently started to promote TNA wrestling through the use of YouTube and they have seen a large number of increased fans as a result.
YouTube can be used to promote the positives in a product and leave out the negatives, this can be used to create a following and generate a constant stream of extra revenue if YouTube is used correctly.
