A vacation in Hawaii should be enjoyed to the fullest. To enable this, planning is essential. The most important part of your journey that will also guarantee that the rest of your holiday is a success, is the means of transportation.

As the Hawaii islands are completely surrounding by water, only two ways are available to you: flying or sailing. Of the two which is the best? If you are embarking from California say, the flight time is just 5 hours. By sea, the time taken is 5 days! Now you think to yourself, the best way to travel is by air to give myself the shortest waiting time to my vacation.

Let's review the pros and cons of flying. Before getting on the plane, you will need to get to the airport. As you go to the lounge, you pass through a security checkpoint and all sorts of hassles start-up with the metal on your person. By the time you finally get to sit down in the lounge, you are already half-angry with airport security.

Your flight is eventually called and you board the plane. You asked for a window seat, but got an aisle seat instead. Your neighbor is a mother with a spoiled brat who makes noise incessantly the whole trip. Every now and then the youngster wants to go to the bathroom and you have to let him and his mother through.

The same will occur on their return. On the seat behind is a poor soul coughing his lungs out. Does he have TB? Will I get it? You look across the aisle and you see another who seems to be clinging to life by a thread. What sort of germs are coming at me, you wonder.

You eventually alight at your destination and find that you luggage is missing. It is on a plane to Malawi and will eventual get back to you in 4 days. You are going to run this gauntlet again on your return. Is the five hour flight worth all this? Now let's see the cruise.

You take a taxi to the harbor and straight to the pier where the ship is docked. A smiling steward meets you and totes your bags onto the ship and straight into your cabin. You put the cases away and head for the bar!

You walk the decks and view all the entertainment areas. You are advised that you will be sitting at the Captain's table for the cruise. Dinner will be served at 1800 hours. Can there be a comparison?

When next you go to Hawaii, forget the plane and take a cruise.
