Why My Dad is the Best

InKSpoTz
As I sit here and try to think of a what to get my dad for father's day, I remember all the good and bad times we had together and realize that if I would just do my best and give my whole heart into what I do, that even if I fail my dad will still be proud of me. That is why I have the best dad in the whole world, because he will never give up on me and when I do fall he will be there to pick me up. I can look back to my childhood and remember all the things my dad would do for me like putting my needs before his, and working extra jobs to make sure I had what i needed. Ultimately that is what a father does for his family, putting his needs last on the list and doing whatever it takes to see your kid smile, because a smile is the best payment a father can receive. Now that I am all grown up and have kids of my own I can understand the fears everyone has for their children and why we do what we do to try and protect them. I am glad I had a chance to learn from the best and hopefully raise my children to be better then me.

Ever since I was a boy my dad would push me to be great, and while I thought it was punishment it was really a plan to teach me responsibility and of course right from wrong. My father grew up on the poor side of town, not having luxuries like an inside toilet or new clothes for school. His father left the house when he was still a young man leaving him with practically no supervision and the free will to do what ever he wanted. Which as we all know leads down a bad road and could land someone in jail or dead at a young age. Even with all the temptations around and no one to stop him, he still choose to do the right thing and try to make something out of his life, which is the most impressive thing about him that I am proud to share with everyone. He was only 22 y ears old when i was born, and as soon as I came into the world that was enough motivation for him to change his partying lifestyle and become a role model. Where some men would be scared and run away from this life changing moment my father embraced it and took the challenge of being a father head on, not knowing what a father does because he himself didn't have one around to learn from. I want to say THANK YOU for sticking around, because I would definitely would not be the same person today if you were gone.

I would have to say the pre-teen years were the best with me and my father, I was in a JAA youth football league and my dad was the assistant coach. It was a great time because we always had something to talk about, either my him giving me advice about the game or just hanging out on a Sunday watching the game together. No matter what I did he would always encourage me and help me to be better. That is why he was probably so upset when I got older and started making bad decisions, because he knew I could accomplish anything I set my mind to. Of course as a teen I thought I knew it all and honestly didn't believe in myself to go after what I really wanted, and didn't think it was important to plan my future. What a big mistake

Even though I didn't listen to him and made a lot of bad choices, when I came around and wanted to be better he was there to guide me. That is why my dad is the best, because no matter what we put each other through he would forgive me and take my hand and lead me down the right path. Now if only I can apply some of his teachings with my children, then maybe I could be as good a father as he is to me. At the end of the day I can look back at my experience growing up and be glad to say I really had a chance to learn from the best. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY
