Why Daily Meditation is Essential to Your Well Being

Taking the time to meditate daily for some people could easily be the difference between life and death, and peace and chaos. As dramatic as that may sound, once you realize the benefits of meditation, you quickly began to understand how taking at least 20 minutes a day from your busy day can extend your life span, improve your overall heath physically, emotionally and mentally.

Forcing yourself to be quiet is a difficult thing to do in a society that lives by bells and whistles that continue to get more complicated and demanding by the day. That is why it is that much more important to cut off your cell phone and PDA, walk away from the computer, and cut off the television to try to quiet your mind and find your center which ultimately results in a much more calming mind and misdemeanor.

Many people say they can't meditate because they can't clear their busy mind. Simply find one beautiful thought, prayer, or visual image that is appealing to you. This could be a place you want to travel to in which case you can quiet your mind by visualizing yourself in the place and focusing on nothing else. When you focus your thought on worry you are essentially meditating on negative energy. You can easily reverse your feelings, your level of stress, your heart rate, and overall nervousness by simply taking the time to meditate daily.

A couple of easy ways to get in the habit of meditating is escaping the madness of the daily grind in your favorite way. If you have a garden take 20 minutes a day to simply be quiet in your garden and focus on a flower and its beauty. If you enjoy fishing, surfing, swimming or just being around water focus on the water and its beauty and the natural surrounding while enjoying the quiet of your mind. You will find after a week to ten days of mediating that your thoughts, actions, and days are seemingly more organized and peaceful.
