They key to maintaining a desired weight is simple. All that is required is honest commitment and time. When people realize the decisions they make affect their weight, they can begin to make healthier choices. Don't worry about counting calories, or measuring servings. When it comes to eating, use common sense. If something looks like it wouldn't be healthy, odds are that it isn't. People need to make a choice. What is more important to them; that bag of chips or being satisfied with their body. The reason traditional dieting doesn't work is because it is a cop-out. People want to loose weight, but they aren't willing to make the right choices. They want to know how to enjoy fatty foods and still be thin. If an individual really wants to look good, they need to eat good. Enjoy whole foods, fruits, vegetables, and lean meats. Drink water instead of soda, and don't bother with sugary desserts. Are foods really that important that this sacrifice is too much to ask?
Another thing that needs to be taken seriously; exercise. Eating healthy foods doesn't burn off the weight you already have. Another reason diets fail is because people assume eating a little less will have enormous impacts. Without a commitment to exercise, an individual stands no chance of seriously losing and maintaining weight. Incorporating small changes in the daily physical activity in combination with healthier food options can go a long way.
While the process of losing weight is physical, it requires some mental changes. Make a conscious choice to eat better and exercise more. Don't look for shortcuts, because they don't exist. The people who are able to keep their bodies at an ideal weight are those individuals who are willing to sacrifice a little. No commitment, no results.
