Why it is Difficult to Get a Bad Credit Auto Loan with Disability Income?

Taylor Black
Getting an auto loan when all or a portion of your income is from a disability claim or SSI can be difficult with good credit. Getting a bad credit auto loan with the same income is darn near impossible.

There is one cold, hard business decision behind it all. Neither disability nor SSI can be garnished to recover a defaulted car loan. There are a few situations where you may get approved with this type of income:

Long term employment, in addition to the SSI or disability, where the wages can be garnished.
Long term stability prior to the current ''situational'' bad credit. That means you had good credit before whatever caused the disability or SSI, which may have caused your credit to go south.

When you apply for bad credit auto loans, you will need to show proof of the amount, length, and proof of payment on any disability claims as well as proof of current SSI payments. Getting a loan with this type of income can be difficult in the best of situations, but, if you spend some time shopping around, you may find a bank willing to make a loan.
