Why Does it Cost More to Eat Healthy?

I have been eating fried food for over thirty years now. Like everybody else I am becoming more health conscious. Recently I have seen an overwhelming influx of low calorie food campaigns trying to encouraging people to eat healthier. I really need to change my eating habits. I am just as price conscious as I am health conscious. During my quest to eat healthier I noticed something that did not make sense. After I patronized several fast-food establishments I noticed that it costs more to eat healthier.

Many restaurants are changing there menus to adjust to the trend of eating healthy. One restaurant that I eat at on a regular basis is KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken), which might I add about fifteen years ago took the word fried out of its name just to make it sound healthier. Recently KFC added grilled chicken to its menu. I am not attempting to defame KFC in any way. The reason that I am using them as an example is because right now it is one of the only fast-food restaurants highly promoting its new healthier product, which is its grilled chicken. At first I was kind of skeptical about switching from KFC's fried chicken to its grilled chicken. Unlike its world renowned original recipe chicken its grilled had fewer calories. The only downside to its grilled chicken is that costs a little more than its traditional fried chicken. Like most consumers I too am price driven. They are always looking for a bargain.

The sensible thing for KFC to do is to make its grill chicken more affordable. This will enable able it to run a successful campaign promoting its grilled chicken along with healthy eating. I am always looking for a deal when it comes to eating out. As a result of the current state of our economy I make an extra effort to pay close attention to the price of any and everything that I buy. If I have to pay more to eat healthy I am going to most likely choose the unhealthy alternative.
