Why Does Everyone Complain

Congratulations to President Obama

Roni ODonnell
Yesterday our president, Barack Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. I, personally was very proud of the man that is representing our country. This man has been on the go since the moment he was elected. Yes, he has not accomplished many things yet but he is in the process of working on many things that took years to become this way.

For a country that has so many rights and so much freedom I think we tend to abuse it all. Our president is not just our leader but a world leader that is highly looked upon, admired or threatened at all times. I've always wondered how it looks to other countries, other people when we can not show respect to the person leading our country and making the decisions. Of course, we are not always happy with those decisions but in true life you can not make everyone happy. No one agrees with everything.

Maybe your vote did not put this person there but the majority has. So have some guts and back him up. It's easy to say how you would handle a situation but when put in that position it is a different story.

What also does not help is that our politicians are working more against each other than trying to work together for us. As one person commented to one of my stories once, our country has split into two.

Our society truly lacks respect today. A relationship is not important anymore. If you can not agree, split up. Go your own separate ways. We are losing sight of the priorities in our lives because we have it too easy. Marriage is a relationship. Friendship is a relationship. Our government and our country is a relationship.

Yes, I know our economy is struggling and many are losing jobs and homes. That's why I get so upset when I hear someone complaining about their job. People need to see the best of things and quit dwelling on the worst. The worst is always there. Believe me, I have hit bottom a few times. When my children were old enough to realize it they'd ask me with concern. How will you make it? I, the parent would have to be positive. What else can I do and somehow I managed. Somehow I pulled through. God was a big part too.

If our country were attacked tomorrow, what would you do? Unite like we did on 9-11 which has been easily forgotten except for the annual remembrance day or stand there and argue about how to deal with it. Would you look up to the person that is leading our country and follow or wonder off unprepared? We forget too easily.

Needless to say I am proud of our president. He has been working since he has been elected. I will not put down past presidents to praise him. Years ago Hillary Clinton put forth the effort for health care. All you hear is how she failed. Not how hard she tried. Parts of life is failure for everyone and learning from them. You can not fail if you do not try.

Thank God we have a president that has the guts to get out there and try. Thank God for any person that has become our president and tried. I sure would not want ever want that position.

Rhonda, you are right. I am embarrassed that another country paid respect to the president we should be honoring. Where is our patroitism, our honor, our respect these days?

Let's face it, we're a nation of complainers. Whether we voted for him or not, he is still the President and deserves our respect.

He is donating the money Bridget - it's not like he's going to spend it on dog food.
