Why Does God Allow for Evil?

Christina Armani
God lets evil happen because he doesn't us to be forced to choose good over evil. God wants the decision not to be evil to come from our hearts. In order for us to follow our hearts, God allows people to make the decision to be evil. Evil happens because God allows us to have free will. Good things come out of evil as well. Sometimes seeing or experiencing evil inspires us to be good. The sad truth is that it sometimes takes bad or evil things to happen in order to find God.

God doesn't allow evil to happen, he allows us to let evil into our worlds. God doesn't want evil to happen, and he doesn't like anything evil. However, God doesn't want to totally dictate over us so he lets us make our own decisions. God didn't want Adam and Eve to disobey him, but he decided not to stop them. As a result, Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge, which gave them the knowledge of good and evil. Adam and Eve didn't fully appreciate everything that God gave them, but they did after they ate the apple.

We can't appreciate good without there being evil. If it wasn't for evil, we wouldn't even know what good is. The truth is that good and evil can't exist without each other. One can't choose to be good without rejecting the choice to be evil. Therefore, evil has to exist in the world so that we're good because we know what not being good is, and not just because we don't know anything other than good.

God claims he will punish evil in the end, so it is not like evil is unaccounted for. Evil teaches us what happens when you aren't good and distinguishes between right and wrong. When good people see people doing things, they are turned off by the selfishness, immorality, and lack of remorse. In fact, it makes them feel proud of being good. God is not the one allowing for evil, we are the ones allowing for evil. We have clear evidence that God doesn't allow for evil. God gave us a list of ten commandments, and tells us that he will punish us for not following them. God also tells us to follow him and live a holy life, or spend an eternity in hell.

God lets evil happen since he doesn't want to control us. Jesus died on the cross for those who want to be cleansed of their sins, not for those who refuse to accept his gift of forgiveness. We always make our own choices, God doesn't make them for us. God does let evil happen, but God will not let evil go unpunished.
