Why Don't Birmingham City Officials Have Anything Nice to Say About Birmingham?
Neighborhood: Birmingham
Detroit, MI 48009
United States of America
On October 22nd, I sent out emails to the heads of the Birmingham city government asking for their help. I explained that I was working on a project with Associated Content from Yahoo! and Yahoo! that was focusing on certain local communities. I asked that these leaders please email me a brief statement as to what they thought the strengths were of Birmingham, and what Birmingham's greatest untapped potential was.

After two and a half weeks, I have not gotten a single response from either Mayor Rackeline, Commissioner George Disgard, Commissioner Tom McDaniel, Commissioner Scott Moore, Commissioner Mark Nikita, or Commissioner Stuart Sherman. None of the members of the Birmingham local government sent me a message back.

Mind the fact that I gave a link in the email to prove that this was a legitimate request. I pointed out the work that I had done for the two parties in the past. I also pointed out that their statements would be seen by local residents, residents from other cities, and might even get national exposure. It makes you wonder why the elected officials of the city of Birmingham can't come up with anything nice to say about the community.
