Seriously, it doesn't make me a lot of difference that people disagree with me on this subject. But personally I think the global warming issue is just another case of somebody trying to attract attention to themselves.
Recently I heard in the news about a hoax regarding the issue. Then I read in an online news report that, "A server belonging to the University of East Anglia Climate Research Unit was hacked and a large file containing documents and emails was obtained. A number of these documents seem to indicate an attempt to manipulate data and public opinion." Why am I not surprised? It's just as I've always suspected.
There have been ice ages and thawing and warmer climate followed by colder climate as long as the world has existed.
It hasn't been but a few years since scientists were warning us that the world was getting colder. Wonder what happened to that theory?
All I know is that the old folks I've known have always talked about how the climate has been changing all their lives. This started long before we had the automotive emissions problems and all the other purported pollutant dangers of everything from hairspray to deodorant.
It's not enough that we're being accused of dumping "greenhouse gases" into the atmosphere, but now even the cows are getting blamed for their emissions of methane gas. It will be interesting to see how the politicians will handle that issue!
Don't get me wrong. I'm all for doing our utmost to keep our land, air, and water clean. I do my part to help in that respect.
But I can't help thinking it's downright arrogant of us mere humans to think it's in our power to destroy what God has created. We might mess it up for awhile, but God is totally capable of taking care of His world, in spite of our best efforts to destroy it.
We might destroy ourselves with drugs, alcohol, eating the wrong foods, and otherwise unhealthy lifestyles. We might denude our forests by clear cutting and lack of management. We might dump our sewers and trash in our rivers and oceans and make our water unfit to drink. We might strip our land of nutrients required to grow crops. But when the world is destroyed, it will be done by God, in His own time and in His own way, as He planned in the beginning.
I'm going to do my part to protect our land and everything in it. But I don't plan to lose any sleep over global warming. God is still and always will be in control.

Post a CommentEver wondered why Greenland was named that way? Excellent article, well said, and thank you for saying it!
Great work.
I absolutely adore your opening paragraph! I loved your article as well. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I agree, everything is just hype these days. Everything!
It is about time the folks stand up to the enviro-arsonists..these hucksters are of the same brand as the race-arsonists ...and spew their hot air for selfish gain and actually harm a legitimate cause. Excellent article Pat!
I agree with you 100%. Yes, we do have a responsibility to Mother Earth, but the global warming thing has turned into nothing but sensationalism. As far as global cooling: I was born in 1967 so I was shocked to learn that global cooling was a concern in the '70's. Yeah, funny how you don't ever hear about that. (There's an interesting chapter in Superfreakonomics about global warming/cooling that I think you would like.)
Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, Pat, but you didn't make me mad. In fact, I've even said a few of these same things. I agree there may be some changes, and you and I can do our little part, but if it's truly something dramatic must be done, it's going to have to be major changes in major countries, and I don't see that happening. And as far as you not being surprised by the email situation, we've been deluded by so many people over the years, that most of us don't trust anybody anymore, especially the newscasters who manipulate everything to their advantage to get ratings.
Pat - my brother and I have discussions about this topic on a regular basis. Our Prime Minister is going on about global warming as if the end of the world is coming next week. In reality, Australia is just a little country compared with China, but not a word about that. We, like you, do not pollute our environment and are frugal with resources such as power and water. It is often very funny when those who think they are experts highlight how "hot it is because of global warming" (normal summer here) and a few days later there is a cold snap that shoots that one down in flames. The weather is "the weather" and it will be what it is. To a certain extent a lot of people are alarmist about a lot of things that are totally out of their control. Governments want to get more money from us by inflicting charges on this, that and the other but give us back little in the way of improved transport etc. Well done for highlighting this side of the argument.
Kudos, Pat, for a terrific read! I agree 100%.
I completely agree.
