Why You Don't Need to See Clerks 2

Bo Gorcesky
Greetings true believers, perhaps you might know of me as the guy who does the movie reviews and/or movie related things on this site. Well, I would like to tell you all about Clerks 2. Most of you must already know how poorly it's done at the box office, but it's not sufficient enough to say that it's a bad movie. I'm telling you it IS A BAD MOVIE, and I haven't even seen it, read about the hype or plot nor do I have to. And this is why......
Kevin Smith vowed a few years ago that his series of the "View Askew" saga (meaning Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back) would come to a proper end with Jay and Silent Bob. The last one wasn't all too good, it was chop full of a lot of dick and fart jokes, cameos and cheap gags. Far inferior to a lot of the earlier subsequent attempts to make another Clerks film.
Yeah, that's right I went there. That is one of the main reasons to NOT SEE Clerks 2. Chances are, you've seen it already with Mr. Smith's other films which maintain that same cliche 90's persona of the Generation Xer's as slackers. Why do we need yet ANOTHER buddy comedy riddled with jokes about ass cock, two over the hill stoners leaning up against a convenient store, Star Wars references (which are one of the seamingly most successful points of all of Smith's films.) and plus lots of other inside nerdy things ranging from comic books and retro references to bad movies and worser music. Thank you Prince
Smith's intentions to end the View Askew Saga should have stayed true. Not to say that Strike Back wasn't entirely a great film or a terriable film. But what it did was help tie up all of the loose ends of all of the various supporting characters from the Askewniverse. Why bring them all back to throw them into yet ANOTHER adventure? Because Ben Afleck needs money? Because Kevin Smith's wife is harassing him for another supporting role? NO! THe answer purely lies with the huge flop of Jersey Girl.
It can be seen that perhaps Smith was frightened and instead of taking a risk and going with something original again - he went back to his routes where he knew he had a steady cult following and people anxiousily awaiting to see how many times they can bare to hear the phrase, "Snootchie Bootchie!". But this is the 21st century not, and the Gen X'rs (Smith's primary audience) don't care abou that crap anymore. There'll all grown up with their own lives and cares. Nor do the current 18-24 market makeup, as apparent from the flopping ticket sales. Instead, they probably wanted to see Pirates 2 again.
Basically, I think Kevn Smith is a brillaint and ground breaking writer and director. Not only from quite a few of his films, the comics he has written - and oh - the personal fact that he holds a monthly film contest and that my own personally directed fan film, "The Super Life," was selected by him as a semi-finalist - so he has to know good taste.
So, on top of him being talented - I am emploring to Kevin Smith if he happens to catch this review or if any of you Askew fans want to debate me - please reply to this. Mr. Smith - Drop your Askew stuff and just make something new, hip and original. You love Star Wars and comic books so much, why not just make a sci-fi/fantasy film or a comic book movie - like the Green Hornet! lol And for you fans that have seen this movie, tell me what you truly thought and if it goes against everything I have said. Don't go see the sequel to Clerks, because you have already seen it through Smith's other various films in one incarnation or another.
