As over the years it became more and more obvious and apparent of her intentions the more I got turned off by her. And throughout this election cycle she only made me dislike the concept of her as our First Woman President even more. I had been often asked by my husband why this was so, when he thought I would have loved a woman to become president. But I always just responded "Yes, I would, but not her," but I would never have a real answer for why.
But as the election season has proceeded I have been able to come up with the answer. It was my very first chance to vote in 1992, and I was so motivated by Bill Clinton, that I even wrote to Time Magazine, who published my letter to the editor. However, although economically the Clinton Administration did a lot of good, I lost a lot of respect, especially with all the chaos and underhanded strategies that were uncovered.
Furthermore, Bill Clinton has literally built up a very strong resentment through his words and behavior. In addition, the level of dishonesty and fabrication is really appalling . The day she proclaimed that Senator McCain had a lot of experience and Senator Obama had a speech, and subsequently continued to endorse Senator McCain was the last straw for me. Listening to Senator Clinton describe her trip to Bosnia as a very harrowing experience only to later to find out that what she had described was false, further reinforced my feelings. On top of that to hear Former President Clinton describe a general election between Senator Clinton and Senator McCain as one that would be between two people who love this country and care about it, and would not cause any diversion during the elections really made me sick to my stomach.
But it was the sudden realization of the one aspect that I think I have been trying to pinpoint as to the primary base of dislike for Senator Clinton which motivated me to write. After all, why did I not like her all those years ago, before all of this? It hit me ironically enough during the speech Bill Richardson gave endorsing Senator Barack Obama. I kept noticing the body language and posture of Senator Obama. It so clearly proclaimed humility. I thought to myself, "This man has come to represent so much, and has come to mean so much to many people, who has become a superstar and yet he is so humble." And when I see Senator Clinton speaking, or receiving an endorsement all I see is arrogance and a sense of entitlement. That is what I have always seen in her. She exudes cockiness, and arrogance, and the reason why she has behaved the way she has throughout this campaign season, is because she can not comprehend as to how any other candidate dare to even think that they could become the Democratic nominee, when this was supposed to be her turn and time to make history. I just hope, no, not her.
