Whole grain products are different than that of other grain products because they contain 100 percent grains. This means there is no processed white flours included in the whole-grain products. Whole grain products are healthier to eat than those that contain the processed white flours. This is because, although the processed flours give food products an appealing color and taste, they do not have the same nutrients and fiber content as those of whole grains. Often, these processed white four products will be "enriched" with nutrients to try and make them as healthy as the whole grain products, but in reality your best bet is to go with whole grains.

What are Whole Grain Sources?
Whole grain sources come in many forms. The most common and readily available whole grain food sources are breads. Other forms of whole grains foods include cereals and pastas. It is quite easy to find whole grain sources with a few extra minutes of label reading at the store. The extra time spent reading labels is worth the health benefits of the whole grains.

What is the Nutrient Benefits?
Whole grain products include many more nutrients than those of other grains. Whole grains are an excellent source for fiber and other vital vitamins and minerals needed for adequate health and nutrition. Whole grains products contain selenium, potassium, and even magnesium for promote health. Best of all, whole grain products are low in fat and are often recommended for a heart healthy diet. Whole grains are also a heart healthy choice because they contain little or no cholesterol. Whole grain products contain fewer calories as well. When trying to loose weight, choose whole grains because they help you feel fuller longer, promoting healthy weight loss. Whole grains also include antioxidants, vitamin A, vitamin E, and even B6 vitamins.

What are Some Whole Grains?
When walking through the grocery store, you will want to read labels to find great whole grain sources. Some of the things you will want to pick will include barley, buckwheat, and cracked wheat. Brown rice and oatmeal are also great choices to acquire the whole grains. Millet and pop corn are great as well. Look for products that contain wild rice also. Choose whole wheat bread and other multi grain breads to acquire the health benefits.
